Certainly much better than episode 1 or 2, although I still prefer the 4.,5,6 movies a little better though. It seems as though a lot of people that Ive talked to feel this way too.

The only thing I'm wondering about is why it takes so long for the death star to be finished. At the end of the movie, you see that they have frame of it done, but because this scene is mixed with scenes of Luke and Leia being sent away, you know that this is chronologically far away from the start of the next movie. However, the death start is only finished when they're both grown up. If it takes that long to finish the rest of it, then how did they complete the framework so quickly? And if the droids were the ones to have started the death star, then why was the second one finished so much ore quickly? <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Simple construction.... have you ever watched a building be built

The framework goes up in days..... from there it takes forever to finish the interior...

The Deathstar is frickin huge.... it would take decades........ kilometers and kilometers.....

it cant be built in a shipyard.........

Yeah, its the size of a small moon. But its no moon; its a space station.

Edit: Did anyone else chuckle towards the beggining when Obi Wan said, "I have a bad feeling about this"?

That line _must_ be uttered at least once in every Star Wars movie. It's like, the law.

It kind of made me mad how "small" Windu's death was. I mean, he got blasted by lightning and thrown out the damn window. That's not dramatic, and I felt it didn't do nearly enough justice to a character as awesome as his. It was just too quick, I guess. Seeing his body fall down and out also ruined it for me.
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
I thought it was rather dramatic...he was shocked by Force lightning for like 20 seconds, continuously. It looked like the skin on his face was melting away, but maybe that was just my imagination filling in the holes.

The only person's skin that "melted" was Palpatine's. Well, Anakin too, I guess.

Just watched it, and liked it the most of the prequels. I'll still rank the Clonewars cartoons higher tho. I agree with all the cheesyness everyones been mentioning here. The Wilhelm cry i heard immediatly hehe (taken from when Han Solo throws an explosive charge at an imperial officer down on Endor in Rotj..if im not mistaken). And for some anti chessyness, i cant believe noone has mentioned this yet as well: Jar Jar's 2 second screentime and he didnt utter a word! I was afraid he was gonna yell something horrific during the burial..

Kool stuff. And i think the first time it was being used for starwars, was the moment with Han Solo on Endor. Then in the special edition versions, it got added to A new hope and The empire strikes back. I could be wrong, but then again, its only how I remember it.

*I definatly gotta make a little Wilhelm scream soundpak for the NS deathsounds now hehe.

Highly agree on that commie, but after being fed with the same wooden acting and shallow dialogue in the 2 prior movies, I didnt mind it this time.

The Yoda entrance is the most memorable moment for me in this movie. Those guards really got hit HARD.

    ok some questions for cy/tycho

WHY THE **** WAS THERE A LADING STRIP!? (takes ritalin) ok so every ship can go strait up and down and there's a giant airport in the middle of congestionville. duh?

Did anyone else notice how often grevios/palpatine could have killed obi wan/windu? Well ok I guess palpatine wanted anakin to come. But why did yoda suddenly run away right in the middle of his duel with palpatine?

Bail organa was suddenly a major caracter in the last half hour and nobody even said his name. He just showed up at the jedi acadamy after a few cameos. again buh?

I didnt really get the bit with Bail Organa, if thats his name. He lands in his ship and the clone troopers tell him theres been a rebellion and he should bugger off, right? Then some poor Jedi jumps out, creams a few troopers and gets shot...I thought Organa was on the same side as the Jedi, or am I wrong? Well, he must be, the troopers point their guns at him and tell him to leave...but wouldnt they arrest him or something? I dunno, cant remember what I was thinking about in the first place now.

Info on Organa please you Star Wars boffins!

If he were to have all of his limbs cut off by Anakin, get set on fire and electrocuted by Palpatine and pushed off of a <i>high speed jet</i> into an <i>active volcano</i>... <i>to a nuclear countdown</i>.

Okay, it was dramatic. It just seemed like a really crappy death. That's not to say that it wouldn't suck to die any other way, but he got <i>thrown out the window</i>. Not only that, he got his damn arm cut off. For a good guy, it seems like a vicious death, which isn't a problem in itself. If you look at the other movies though, the protagonists' deaths aren't usually so... quick.

I guess a similar case of this would be the movie Deep Blue Sea. Getting eaten is a bad way to die, and the way they depicted it... eugh.

Well, what my point was supposed to be was that Mace Windu is too cool to just get his arm chopped off and thrown out a window.

Who says that all the ships take off just going up and down? I know there is nothing in the expanded universe that indicates as such.

    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Grievious couldn't have killed anyone, he was kinda a nub really. Especially since Windu pwned his butt prior to the engagement. Doku could have probably killed obi-wan, but anakin was quite a bit stronger as evidenced by how easily he did pwn him in the end. Not to mention the fact, he knew who palpatine was, and was probably assuming anakin was to be his apprentice not palpatines.

Yoda ran away because he was unable to beat the emperor 1 on 1, which says something about how strong they both are.

    <!--QuoteBegin-discoduck+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (discoduck)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

He was only a major player because he took Leia to live with him as an adopted child. Reason he went to the academy and the reason the soldiers let him go was because he was a senator, they were there for the jedi, not the senators. Same reason the clones left the wookies alone, they had their orders and they followed them to the letter.

I think that sums it up nicely.

Hmm I'd say that Yoda, in a lightsaber fight, had a slight upper hand on Palpatine, but Palpatine kept throwing all those discs at him. And Yoda eventually lost his lightsaber, thus turning the odds against him.

Edit: And Grievous was no nub. Sure, he was no match against someone like Windu (needs fear, surprise, and intimidation) but come on, in Season 1 of Clone Wars, he did go against 5 Jedi and I'd say he would have killed them all (including Kid-Adi-Mundi, Aayla and Shaak Ti)

Perhaps its not a landing strip, but instead a dedicated 'crashing' strip.

Seems a lot better than the alternative of not having a crashing strip and having a few city blocks completely demolished, causing millions of casualties...

Holy crap. I knew I'd heard it alot, but damn...

Regarding the crashing of the cruser sequence. I belive they still had a degree of control over the forward section (repulsors?) so they could stear it to some extent, but not alot. So Anakin could at least aim in the general direction of a Starport.

On a side note, what's that other scream? I dunno if there's a name for it (there's gotta be...) but its in like.. everything. TV shows, Starcraft, etc.

Its the one that's a reall long "GRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" type yell, start off kind of deep pitched and ends up being higher pitched. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
