I'll create a seperate thread for the spyware/malware as I have yet to have the time to even start that scan.. and I will be using three different programs.
List as follows:
Ad-Aware SE Personal Spy-bot Search & Destory Microsoft Anti-Spyware
:-)
I'll be home in about 7 hours, so keep those guesses coming and lets hope this is the last run needed.

Today I picked up two units, one is a brand new HP pavilion in the box, so of course they just wanted me to add avg, remove norton and add any spyware eliminaters.
The second one, is an older compaq persario, now while this in and of itself isn't so bad, the fact they are on dialup means I was expecting few if any virii/spyware/malware/etc.
As soon as I attempted to load AVG on there (I have fixed this one before, and I installed AVG 6.0 in Sept of 04) the database said it is out of date. Ok, so they forgot to update it once or twice, not a big deal no?
Wow, was I wrong last update is from sept 22, of 2004. Which is the date I fixed it initally. Of course on startup AVG said there were virii but it wasn't leting me run anything, like windows explorer... so I removed the harddrive, put it in my puter, and booted up and I deleted the AVG Vault folder (where the virii go when they can't be healed), there were over 168,000 files in that folder (various files that were infected). As of right now I am running AVG on that HDD, and after an hour into it, it has so far found 8600 DIFFERENT virii...
Please tell me I am not insane for thinking this is absurd for a dial up internet connection.

ah crap... im on dial up. but i do use AVG, Firefox, and Ad-Aware Professional blocker thingy so i think im in good shape.
Alright the nightly 9 pm update(You won't believe this):
1. In addition to the 31,921 monday, and the 62,777 found yesterday, we found 44,370(went to the opt-prefix for names) more today.
2. Which makes a grand total of 139,068 (without final scan done yet.)
3. I am running THE FINAL SCAN NOW.
4. That means if you would like to update your guesses do so now.
5. This WILL BE THE LAST TIME I ACCEPT GUESSES, so make them count.
6. If this wasn't the alien A.I. we were looking for thats sucks, but if it was I would like to say I have single-handedly saved the human race from a future matrix.
Comments
Final guess.
Are you going to run one for the spyware content?
If so, I choose 10000

you should stop giving us updates.. it takes away from the exitement...
Plus or minus 500.
If you're scanning RAM, then %windir%, then %system32%, then the whole system, I'd say around 190000 now.
If you've forgotten to turn off System Restore... Best make that 380000...
You have turned off System Restore...
Haven't you?
187,000 viruses.
It has been running for around 18 hours now.
Good luck to all those who guessed.
1st Scan : 31,921
2nd Scan: 62,777
3rd Scan: 44,370
4th Scan: 48,814
Final Scan: 180,001
That grand total of virii found is: 311,383 DIFFERENT TYPES.
That means the winner of the CONTEST IS:
REV with a guess of 330,000
A Pm has been sent to the winner, and I shall start the malware/spyware scan after thsi finishes cleaning off the rest of the virii.
V1ru$ = very yes!
