Yeah, I have to agree that theres people out there who still like the way things are. I mentioned that in my before post.. but the number of people now has decreased almost 5 fold to the number of people who liked 50 levels 3 months ago.
Trust me, the feeling will die out slowly and you'll want more bang for your buck.

You have solid evidence right here of the number of people that don't appreciate having every single combat server run these plugins; "soft" evidence like those download numbers really don't hold up in the face of actual player testimony.
Whatever. I obviously can't ask you to stop making your plugins, because that would of course be a rather crappy form of censorship, but I'm just tired of you saying that everyone loves your plugins, because quite clearly there's just a <i>tad</i> bit of anger in this thread.

Because a few people dislike them and happen to post in a forum thread hardly means the community as a whole doesn't want them. I'm well aware that everybody doesn't enjoy extralevels2, extralevels, or latejoinxpgiver, but as long as there's a demand for these mods (and currently there's one helluva demand) our developers will continue to crank them out. Seriously I think its great the authors of the plugins think they're helping, but I remember when combat was 4v4 5v5 tops where you planned, strategized, etc. Combat, which was meant originally as a fun alternative to introduce players to the game itself has gone from an enhancement on classic to the iron lung of NS's survival. Introducing mindless killfests into a game that is meant to be for not only twitch gaming skills but intelligence and the ability to plan and think, I don't know how you people sleep at night knowing you're strangling to death a perfectly good game. You think regular NS is boring? Great, get the hell out, and while your gone get your perscription of ritalin filled. If people want counter-strike with aliens, go make your own mod and stop shoving a broomstick up mine.

Reluctantly, QFT.
Read my earlier post. I'm a big story guy, I love stories especially when I'm part of it. Plugins are killing the world I thought NS was based around. I thought it was a 'Universe' an alternative to the future. Now its just a game that I play, like Tetris on Miniclip or some Flash game on CoffeeBreakArcade.

Let's see...the people on these forums take the time to learn about the game. They know more about the game than any average pubber who comes in, plays a few games, then goes back to any of the vast field of traditional fps games available. They are the constants in the community, the players who will really make or break this mod.
The (large) group of players that pick NS up, then drop in in a few weeks...they'll always be there. That shifting group of players will always be there, and always in roughly the same numbers, because this is a free game, and as such it invites new players to try it and drop it if they don't like it. Since that particular group of people is going to populate NS servers no matter which direction the game of NS takes, isn't it logical that the constants, the people who truly like this game and have stuck with it, are more important?
If you lose one group of shifting pubbers, there will be countless other groups to fill the hole; the total number of people playing NS will not drop. If you lose the constants...well, they can't really be replaced. Especially since Combat, which really makes up most of an average pubber's NS experience, doesn't really provoke the same wonder and awe in a player that would motivate him to become a dedicated player, forum-goer, etc, so that group of "constants" is really teetering at a set number right now.

I love how you continue to quote your download numbers, as if that was any indication at all of how much people enjoy/appreciate the plugins.
Don't get me wrong, your codework is amazing, and it's clear you and your coding buddies worked very very hard making these plugins...but how can you see multiple threads like this all over these boards, see that most of this community is resolutely anti-50 levels, and still quote those stats as proof of their popularity? You have solid evidence right here of the number of people that don't appreciate having every single combat server run these plugins; "soft" evidence like those download numbers really don't hold up in the face of actual player testimony.
Whatever. I obviously can't ask you to stop making your plugins, because that would of course be a rather crappy form of censorship, but I'm just tired of you saying that everyone loves your plugins, because quite clearly there's just a <i>tad</i> bit of anger in this thread.
Well there gone, so stop bitchin about it.

The number of downloads are a very good indicator of the popularity of these plugins - the numbers speak for themselves. Because a few people dislike them and happen to post in a forum thread hardly means the community as a whole doesn't want them. Again, any player on here has a choice of what servers they wish to play on, nobody is twisting their arm.
I'm well aware that everybody doesn't enjoy extralevels2, extralevels, or latejoinxpgiver, but as long as there's a demand for these mods (and currently there's one helluva demand) our developers will continue to crank them out. It's what we do best. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Your sense of humor has flippingly failed...
Excellent servers both of them and actually the only ones i play on:
CO = Team deathmatch experiance because of no time limit.
NS = Fun teamwork
Nuff said
Elitism?
So...elitist? Maybe. Justified? I'd say so.

I recommend you download HLSW and find you some plain vanilla servers, there's plenty of them out there. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
No, no there isn't I spent an hour last night with someone looking for a US server with NO addons at all NON, AMX mod is fine because it dosen't turn NS into garbage. Look I dont mind the addons, but there is such a HUGE volume of them that its overwhelmingly retarded. And Yeah, I think that if you can't run exactly what your server says its running, it should be forced on you, because flying invisible heavy armors is not flipping ns anymore<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It makes no sense for you to say a server isn't running exactly what it says. Unfortunately (for players) the Steam menu is limited as to what it can display (re: blame Valve).
This is where HLSW comes in - it shows every single plugin running and even what the cvars are set at. It's free, it's simple, it works well. No one has offered so much as an argument against HLSW yet, so I'll assume those complaining about having to go into a server blind are just ... plain ... lazy. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Since when is ns defined by flying heavy armors, 32 man killathons , and mindless twitch gaming YOUR mods aren't natural-selection, its an abomination
This really isn't a complaint against combat so much as it's a complaint against modded combat, which you can't filter for.
theres this thing you can do with your eyes, its called reading
The issue is that vanilla combat servers stay empty, people like pwnz0ring people with 50 levels and feeling invincible while being called a hacker so the 50 level servers stay full..
It's not something we can "fix" perse... but I certainly feel your pain... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Oh yes you can, I think any server that runs any sort of balance screwing plugins like 50 levels, extra upgrades, should change the game title in the server browser from NS3.04 or whatever the current version is to like NSMODDED or something, because I hate having only 2-3 good servers to play on.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

For as long as Half Life's been in existence, it's mods have had plugins. The game of NS is no exception.
Is that the best you can throw at me? You shouldn't need it? <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yeah, ones like AdminMod and AMX, but for the most part, they <u>don't</u> have gameplay-affecting plugins in other mods. NS is the one that has the <i>most</i> IMHO...
