I would probably get my **** kicked for telling this joke in a stand-up, but if I held up a bible with the sticker on it, then what? I was particulary disgusted by the stuff AFTER the picture, why is bashing the bible ok? MedHead you're making a serious oversight when comparing religion bashing to sexuality/race/whatever. A religion is an idea, and like any other it can be challenged and questioned. This is good and normal. Sexuality or race aren't ideas they are simply how you're born. Bashing an idea and bashing a way someone is born are two very different things.

A religion is an idea, and like any other it can be challenged and questioned. This is good and normal. Sexuality or race aren't ideas they are simply how you're born. Bashing an idea and bashing a way someone is born are two very different things.

I can easily deal with the images, I can deal with the people too. However, you can't say there isn't a hatred of Christianity on these forums. Not to mention, an impartial observer of a few of these kinds of threads would easily recognize that the general definition people hold for "close minded" is "disagrees with what I think everyone in society should think." And believe it or not, this is particularly true for the Christian bashers. I'm not surprised. These people might be surprised that they were mentioned in the that book in question, saying that the rest of us shouldn't be surprised that they hate Christians.
I'll end with a C.S. Lewis quote: "A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell."
Wow that quote does absolutely nothing for me Gwahir. Really. Hey I can make up one that's equally useless, just for you!

I don't believe in religions, but I still find this somewhat offensive. The main reason I find it offensive cause it is clearly punching the face of some people by saying that the book that they have been brought up on contains "shitloads of EVILNESS! (OMG)" Please, you can't tell me the sticker is "alright", even though the bible does contain that stuff, I highly doubt whoever made that picture intended it to be "funny," it feels more like it's saying "The bible is really, really evil."

I would probably get my **** kicked for telling this joke in a stand-up, but if I held up a bible with the sticker on it, then what? I was particulary disgusted by the stuff AFTER the picture, why is bashing the bible ok? You are insulting a book that many, many people base their lives on, and these people aren't "bad," a true christian would be a man with very good morals, I don't see where we get the idea that religion makes people into disgusting wretched corrupted people...

I prefer a path completely devoid of religion. Not devoid of a god, but devoid of an organized religion. And with this rejection of religion comes a rejection of the commonly held conceptions of god. For example, I believe that god is fallible.
