and btw, if the bus is so close, then why not announce it? i mean if it's announced now and released in 3 or 4 weeks, i doubt any other mod/game would have the time to hardcode it into their engine.

No, because he gets payed at EA, he doesn't get paid for making us happy.
And my theory on the BUS is a complete overhaul of the mapping system. Not objectives or stuff, but the actual structures and textures in the map. Perhaps they are recoding the engine so that bullet holes and blood aren't spraypainted on the walls, and eventually dissapear, but the walls texture is actually edited in real time to add the bullet hole, same with blood splatters and stuff. When players die, their corpses wont just dissapear, the corpse model would be converted into a brush, and actually part of the map, so you would be able to walk on the corpses (Rag-Doll physics would also probably come with it). If you wanted to, you could build a ladder of corpses (yes, I'm sick, I know...). It would also affect infestation, in that it only appears where the hives and other chambers are. The walls textures would be changed to accomodate green stuff and tentacles, and the floor would actualy grow where it's closest to the hive and near large clumps of chambers. Of course, some parts would have to be coded into the the actual map making, such as walls falling out, pipes breaking, and what not.
How would this bring clans and pubs closer together? Everyone would come together and say "wow" as one big group.
(Yes, I know that's most likely impossible with the HL engine, but I can dream.)

I know this thread is purely speculation. So let me speculate some more.
I found this through search. It's a very old topic and seems to have lots of things to do with the BUS. This idea was basically for marines, but I believe that if it's ever implemented it would be extended to aliens. <span style='color:red'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>It is also somewhat copiable by other mods.</span></span>
Marine players would be given a rating based on stats. The comm would be able to see those stats. Then he would plan his strategy based on those stats. He would likely mix Newbies and Veterans to maximize everyone's efficiency. So <span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:red'>this would bring pubbers and clanners closer together.</span></span>The only problem I can see with this theory is that it wouldn't affect clan matches. But noone said they would, they only mentioned clan people.
Seeing as this idea improves teamwork, it could be copied by ANY mod that involves teamwork.
Bah, if you don't believe me, <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=221&st=0&#entry2115' target='_blank'>read</a> Flay's post. He seemed to like that idea very much.

No.
Definately no.
He(the comm) would most likely send the newbies out as skulkbait while giving the jetpacks out to the vets. If the comm so easily can distinguish between "good" and "bad" players, it would under no circumstances benefit teamwork.
Neither it would aid in bringing the two extremes together. Rather, I can foresee advanced players joining a server, looking at the stats and leave with the comment "just noob on the server"
I do not doubt that the BUS is a good idea and great improvement in theory. It just seems, that the project was heavily dependent on x-cageys coding skills, and Flayras new "coding minions", as somebody called them, seem to lack cageys expertise. The delay of beta5 release makes it quite obvious.

wow zaggy, thats gotta be ol shermans bus, god he was a fruit well, the bus is big, meaning its not gonna be in there unless the release is huge. and it is unannouned, so there not gonna tell when its done (not like they ever have) or when its comeing, or what release its in, all we know its could be in b9, and it is a system so... umm... you know.
