Excellent trailer..... Better than anythin any of us could ever make....
However i have one qualm with it....
If its aimed at the newer player, most of the shots are scenery, which is great, but how about one like 15-20 second hive assault, showcasing one of the best parts of the game imho...
Im imagining something like a camera in refinery in bast with an alien hive there... Heavy's stomping up the ramp while jetpackers come through the vent and out top, a few lerks, an onos, and a couple o chambers, maybe a fade blinking....
This shot wouldnt be chaos, it would be choreographed, lerks flying down and biting, the heavies scattering and appearing overwhelmed, the onos roaring around taking shots while the jetpackers attack the o chambers and hive....
End it before the outcome is evident...
Other than that, i will honestly sayh i watch it every day and absolutely love it.. it roxxors my soxxors...<!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
@SDJason I like the idea, but I fear something like that would be nearly impossible in ns. To make such a big scene look good, you would need
1) A lot of disciplined actors. Believe me, it's a pain in the * to find only 3 guys who do exactly what you say without pumping bullet holes in the wall, abusing sv_cheats 1, parasiting people, etc. 2) If you find these people, you will need a working hltv mode to make some cool camera movements and that stuff. In the current ns version, you can't even strafe left/right in free look, which limits the potentials to a minimum.
So you see, it's not that easy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .
can anybody give me the answer to this question: why the hell does everybody uses a freshly released codec to compress his video?nevertheless perfect work here. storymovie!!! <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

@Garet Jax Believe me, I know alot about the spec modes. But if you record the scenes directly during the action, you only have one try for a camera movement, and for every cut you would need to re-stage the scene again ... I make it really look good, a bug-free hltv is necessary.
@Lt Gravity Xvid 1.03 is 2 months old. But beside that: And XviD 1.03 encode can be decoded by any mpeg-4 codec. So you can have a XviD 0.x (over one year old) and still decode this video without problems. Most new versions only change encoding settings.
Rather than saying "great video!.. yada yada" which has already been said a kajillion times-
Someone tell me whats new in this trailer -other than the fact that theres a new map scene- coz it looks and feels like the current version played in everyday servers now?
I dont mean the sped up footage, enhanced textures and what not. Those dont count and just simply add to the eye candy, "wow" factor.
The old players have seen, and done that in previously versions of ns! Yes, yes the video would very likely bring in new players. I mean media blitzes were the bomb when Monse was the PR god of NS...
I'm sorry but i fail to see what the video has to offer other than whats mentioned above.
Its been a long time since Ns gave me the opportunity of awe and "OMg u mean I can <i>do that?!</i>" like it used to.

Exactly....
Think about it from this perspective.. If you were still playing 2.01, and all you knew of Combat or any of the other of HUNDREDS of changes that have been implemented were what was hinted at in SS's etc, then perhaps you would be able to get excited about this video as it would show some new things you haven't seen..
But because we used a very open beta process this time out, all the players have been part of the development process the entire way...
But imagine you had never played NS before...... Those are the people this trailer is meant for..

Zunni would slap me if I would say that there isn't much new in 3.0 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> but at least these changes are difficult to show. Beside the new maps (which are shown, although not enough) and the 3rd person reload animations (which unfortunately didn't show up in the version I used to record the trailer), most are gameplay changes. And those are very difficult to show in such a small trailer.
Best trailer ever ever. It looked more like a movie trailer than a video game trailer <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> I loved the lerk in Refinery. Also, the music that starts when the skulk drops on the marine in Powersilo was awesome.
A friend of mine who plays CS diehard ran up to me at school and said
"Did u see the new NS 3.0 trailer, its kicks posterior!!!"
If that doesnt tell you how good this trailer is, i dont know what will <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
All you guys saying that this trailer is the best should watch the First promo trailer, with the CG at start sequence (think Amerigo scene from starcraft) and the fade at the end.
<i>That</i> IMO is THE best promo i've ever seen of ALL the official NS videos i've seen.
Ill like to see when that day changes tho. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Then again, it'll probly mean NS on the source engine <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
when I read "new NS trailer" I thought there'll be some trailer with animations like in the beginning of the 2.0 trailer.
I mean the trailer you can download in the "files" section on the page. I dunno for how long I have this trailer on my computer but it seems to be more than 1 year <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

NS2 Trailer should be fully 3d rendered <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> with 200000 fps 1024x768 resolution with surround sound.

The v3.0 movie doesn't have the same atmosphere the v2.0 one had... or whatever the one was that had the CG into with the marines in the dark hallway and the cloaked skulk attacks the one that's scared
then them walking up the landing pad into the complex etc
talk about atmosphere, this one was more "run and gun" looking, but it was still cool
I bet when NS comes on source they'll be able to fit all the atmosphere they want :-P

In HLTV; go into the console and type "spec_mode 3".
Then use the binds:
bind "uparrow" "+lookup"
bind "leftarrow" "+left"
bind "downarrow" "+lookdown"
bind "rightarrow" "+right"
To be able to move about (this includes strafe) in Free Look mode.
Believe me, I know alot about the spec modes.
