Last night, I was playing as Kharaa on the new caged. I was a gorge, [FoR]Storm was an onos and there was a random crew of other alien PTs with me.
The marines had been fighting hard all game, but somehow we all found ourselves at the marine base, and ripped it to shreds. We almost got every last marine, but a minute later, we noticed they were respawning somewhere. I heard someone yelling over voice comm "The marines are at the vent hive!". We were out of resources, so we knew that we couldn't die, and this was our last battle, and our last chance.
Our motley crew made it over to the room at the top of the lift that heads down to our (now dead) vent hive. I was yelling to Storm not to die because she was our main fighter left. We were about to move in when my Scent of Fear kicks in, showing me that the lift was FULL of enemy blips. The mass of enemy blips starts moving slowly up as I hear the elevator spring to life. I start yelling over voicecomm "They're all on the elevator, get back!". I knew they had HMGs and mad upgrades, so we were probably finished. Just as the blips are about to come around the corner, Storm runs up to them and stomps the ground. In the ready room, I called this "The Stomp Heard Round the World". All the marines are frozen. One **** off horde of aliens of various sizes, damage state and ability pounce on the helpless targets and then move through them as if they never existed. We cleaned up their IP and CC in the next room, and it was gg.
Ehm reading that story it almost sounds as if "stomp" is overpowered? I haven't really read this forum much lately so Im not exactly aware how it functions...
How long does it freeze them? How many can it freeze at a time?
Sorry if this has been asked,... I didn't bother to search and I've already typed this so I wont bother now. Just sounds a bit scary if one single onos can "disable" an elevator full of HMG marines.
yes, nem is right. what i may point out is that the stomp move is just like paralasis, but...better. And from what i have read, it is an onos ability. i think it should balance out. If not, you can always go back to the tried and tested method of simply saying "well its your fault for letting us go onos"...which is true

These two quotes have already given us some useful info. It would seem from these that stomp is a 2 hive weapon and devour is the 3rd hive weapon for the onos. That means Primal Scream is gone Wonder if the gorge will get it...
If an onos still costs 70 res then it should be able to take out several HMGs (not so easily, though). It is supposed to be very strong. But as Flayra has said, the onos wouldn't have a chance against several HMGs, he was just lucky that their were ALL using the elevator.

Not at all. Stomp could be either a 1-hive or 2-hive weapon, and devour could be 1, 2, or 3-hives. But any way, they sound wonderful, especially if the "Uber Suggestion" is going in.

getting killed by a simple skulk after he survived the belly of the onos
