Thanks, that pointed me the right way. It didn't instantly work because it was missing 32bit libudev0 which is normally provided by the Steam runtime.

I've found those and tried thoem with no success. I guess some Arch users were seeing other issues which could be fixed like that but my issue is definitely not related. Judging from in [LINUX] FMOD fails to initialize -> no sound at all. Comment by DerRidda December 2014

I'm using Pulse, I've got my ALSA plugins and I also tried setting SDL_AUDIODRIVER (I even tried OSS for Pete's sake). Nothing in that thread applies.

You aren't missing a thing. For some reason they haven't implemented a proper fullscreen mode in the Linux version (yet), which in itself is entirely possible on Linux and most other games do it.
