Marines who encounter my drifter train rarely live to tell the tale. Nowadays I'm often among the top scorers on the alien team as commander. Drifter rushing is the true OP, but nobody seems to have realised it yet.

Oh, awesome post BPN. I hadn't thoght about it like that but your idea makes total sense. I'm not sure what the best way to implement it is but the general idea is great.

Either you want to play against people with low skills so you can get a high score and have fun gibbing people, or you want to play with people who are fun, to get another gaming experience. I always look for the latter, but it makes sense to look f…

If you don't show deaths then showing kills is kind…Double post(Quote) This is one of the best posts I've seen on these forums since I joined. I wish every good player would read it.
I like it a lot and on the server I play on it is one of the maps that is most commonly requested.
The other day I spent some time in Water Treatment while waiting for the game to start, what a great room that is. I hope there will be so…(Quote) The part I disagreed with was that early choices wouldn't have an effect on the outcome of the game, and that the difference between carapace and celerity was minimal. I'm in complete agreement that getting both upgrades is a huge waste, …(Quote) I could not disagree more. Early decisions from the alien commander have a huge impact, and there's a big difference between carapace and celerity. You usually have well thought out arguments, so I am surprised to see you make these claim…(Quote) In that scenario I'd probably spend the res on a second hive instead and get both celerity and carapace two minutes later.Since I play lerk as often as I can, I've been trying this out since I read this post and I have yet to kill a single exo by myself with spikes. Yes, you can sometimes shoot at part of exos without them being able to get a line of sight on you, and …I really like the glancing bite function. It rewards those who are skilled but doesn't punish the less skilled so severly. I also like the unpredictability it brings. In fact, I think having some "randomness" is good for the game, even though the el…(Quote)
I am not missing that fact. Good khammanders will use *forward* shifts to direct and enforce attacks on strategically valuable objectives. That's a valid strategy and not what I am critisising. It's the *reactive* and *defens…So the consensus seems to be that the railgun is GOOD at the things it is supposed to be good at (instagibbing skulks, sniping retreating life forms), and BAD at things it's not supposed to be good at (killing onos, being the ultimate destrution mac…That was fun to watch. I love all the laughing going on, sounds like you have a lot of fun(Quote)
I like all kinds of discussions on strategy or tactics, but find that it lacks depth and becomes wildly unfocused unless you restrict the subject.I appreciate all the talk about differtent tactics, but I started the thread to discuss the specific issue of getting egglocked on large pub servers. Perhaps we can have a thread on general tips/tactics/strategies and keep this one on topic?(Quote)
My point is that there are better ways of avoiding egglocks than buying eggs. Either getting a hive, that spawns eggs for free and brings other advantages, or getting carapace which greatly increases survivability.
If y…(Quote) I'd say that accounts for at least 20% of my skulk deaths...
If the problem described in the OP was a reality, I'd expect to see exos dropping to lerks a lot and more than one person on the forum complaining about it. I guess 3-4 lerks wirth regen working together could take out a single exo pretty quick, but…My proudest moment so far:
It's a very close game on summit and our 2:nd hive in Data Core is getting attacked by almost the full marine team. I've just reached 50 res while biting a node in Flight contro, and we have no lifeforms to def…(Quote) +1

New slogans for the shift franchise? You won't win, but you'll die quicker! or Run to your death even faster, with Celerity(tm) from SHIFT corp.!
Or for the cynical commanders: "Tired of watching your s…(Quote) To me there is a big difference between using forward shifts (pro-active) as an (expensive) way to get your teammates into the right position, and using it as a reactive way to pay for skulks suiciding. Using forward shifts is a valid str…(Quote) I agree, but my post is about what the commander can do. Unfortunately it is hard for the commander to make skulks play smarter.
(Quote) In a straight 6 vs 6 fight in a room I agree that the game favors the marines, but apart from benefits like mobility, parasite etc the aliens have one more advantage that is rarely used effectively: Mixed groups.
The alien life form…(Quote)
It doesn't really give that much map control for several reasons.
1. Even if aliens can get to a spot slightly quicker, they don't have any combat advantages once they get there since celerity stops working when you att…I don't think spawning eggs in itself is a bad thing, it depends on the overall strategy. If you're spending res on eggs because you keep running out of them, it is bad. But if you're spending res on eggs in a forward position to take down a base, i…(Quote) It would be interesting if there was also an option called "vote to win" where one team will win once they get a majority of the players on their team to vote. I mean... what's the difference?
