i guess monday could be a good day for release. don't forget that the patch needs to go trough some initial testing + steam. ok perhaps tuesday because possibly they don't work on weekends ;)
I'd be surprised if we saw an update on the main page, and then a patch later the same day.
They still have like 15 things to do on the progress page before the 'apparent' 152 release, which swings back and forth. Factor in as has been mentioned that it all needs compiling and then at least a fairly good play test to make sure that there is nothing too wrong.
The Whip post could have been written up earlier in the week and just saved for friday, playtesting might take a while to make sure that things are correct but putting a new build together isn't extremely time consuming.
Anyway, I guess we'll see within the next four hours either way. I also noticed that the next release/build marker for gameplay tasks on the progress page has vanished.

Max is trying to get a few more optimizations in to improve framerate, such as fixing some issues with the current occlusion system.

I take it that this means that the networking stuff has been improved to satisfactory levels?

I also noticed that some props don't block view as perfect as they could.
Then again it already works amazingly well in some places. Most of the time when one uses clean, tied-together brushwork or when you stick rock props into each other.
Theres only a few more tasks that need to be completed. All of the technical tasks have been completed and theres only 6 more gameplay tasks that need be finished (they have already been started). <img src="http://imgur.com/PFGOf.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Monday? I would doubt it. Once all of those tasks get finished, it also has to get playtested to ensure it's all working as intended. It would be great to get an update by this Friday, but I think next week at the latest almost definitely.
Remember, UWE has preivously mentioned that there are significant overheads involved with pushing a patch through Valve. Also, +1 for Evil_bOb1, there is much in the progress page that we probably won't see. I'd guess that anything substantial that hasn't been officially revealed won't be in there.
Uhm... this is just weird, anyone else see the Technical entries like this? <img src="http://www.andrige.com/ns2/WhatThe.PNG" border="0" class="linked-image" />

keep in mind that pivital tracker automatically inserts tasks based on past performance so there most likely will be less calculated time consuming tasks added bumping the down the release task regularly. This doesn't mean they will complete all tasks shown before the patch task but it's a good indicator on how well their past performance (time wise) has been.
I also believe the occlusion system needs a thorough look at. anyone building a level can see there is problems there and it would clear up allot and actually make the game engine not stress the video so badly. I'm hoping at least a 20FPS increase in this next patch but will be happy with 10-15 to add to my current 7-12fps with a 9500GT 1GB card.
I want this patch as bad as the next guy but will be glad to wait it out to see more technical issues addressed than actual game content.
I'm not sure if they're just trying to add random entries so they can have some concealment for the next update in the future, or if it's actually two words since I think that empty line is just too convenient. Or if it's simply a bug.
We swapped the letter for the one above or below it. A number 2 = 2nd along.
Quite clearly results in : <b>QSEUHAZBB</b>
BB refers to phpBB (forums), we can quite clearly see "UHAZ" in there which is LOLCat speak and self-explanatory. "QSEU" is an acronym for "Quite Soon Europe".

Anybody think a monday release is likely?

Or, maybe it means NS2 is completely finished and ready for gold release.

*shrugs*
Use the numbers to find letters from the word Development on the pivotal tracker page.
4 6 2 2 which gives you
e o e e
put these letters in with the others you get...
e o e e r h u n m
arrange these letters to
ne hour mee
i googled mee as an acronym and came up with Mise En Eta which i googled for a translation.
mise en tat = State implementation
ne hour state implementation
in other words
"any hour now we will state the implementation of our next patch"
Haha best i could come up with
1 - Fix Technical Tasks
ABCDEFGHIJKLM (First 13 letters.)
NOPQRSTUVWXYZ (Second 13 letters.)
We swapped the letter for the one above or below it. A number 2 = 2nd along.

Code cracked, you're welcome ;-) /me takes a bow
:|
...right? Am I right?
I was really hoping it was a cryptic code for us to play with :-(
