I dunno, considering how quick and easy it is to repair a power node right now it doesn't sound useful... unless they make it so you can't repair destroyed power nodes.
^ i will also like to add, having 10 macs building power nodes, usually happens under min if not even quicker. portable power nodes is an over kill at this point, macs problem has to be dealt with before they are added into the game.

macs indeed must be removed from the game, and marines need to get welders back into the game. portable power nodes would make more sense having, and marines will finally have class roles another then currently standing there watching macs do everything for them.
X amount of Drifters/MACs per Commander should solve that. Something like capping it at 3/4/5 for each rank of the Command Center. This unbalance with incredibly fast repair is easy to fix and just because of that we shouldn't throw them away at a whim. They are a great addition to the Commander and it should most definitively stay.

only good addition the commander gets, is group full of marines who listens. If mac only repairs power nodes or only stays in base it might not such big issue. Macs are doing far to much right now, and its at some point of the game marines aren't even needed, this is huge problem. bots doing marines work isn't good, they should either stay in base only or reducing their usefulness (abilities). And making only certain amount of them is actually something needs to be done, maybe 2-3 and only one mac can repair/build at the time - marines need to step up, do what they done in ns1.

I think that MACs and Drifters should be done away with. The building of structures should rest upon the members of the team. It would add so much more to the dynamic of NS.... like in NS classic.
Yes, exactly. It's all quite easy to fix like that, I kind of expect it to be done at some point, to have a structure that usually takes 15-20 sec suddenly become finished in like 3 sec is hardly meant to stay until release.
But pretty much everything with the builders is a rough implementation since they are pathing completely off without regards to walls, they can hide outside the boundaries of the map, they can be stacked atop each other, they fly and they can build atop almost any surface. It'll come eventually, until then it's just up to the commanders/players to play as cleanly as possible. But their function, taking all these issues aside, is fundamental to the Commander-role and helps with interaction.

Maybe when the power node is destroyed have a commander click on the destroyed node to get the option to spawn a new power node on there for a marine or mac to build.
It would make repairing nodes more involving for the marine team then the usual mac weld rush.
Also you would need to have the static power node be cheaper than the new portable ones or they would just plop one down in a defensive area.
luns is just a MAC-hater. Probably 15/20 of his most recent posts have been anti-MAC.
I mean, honestly... Originally, MACs were the only builders. Then, Marines were able to build. Then, Marines each build like 3x as fast as MACs. You're proposing they remove the MACs entirely; and I worry, given the trend, that they will listen to you.

Anyone notice the sheer lack of movement on the Technical Task list this week? I hope all is well in Max's world.

if you can't understand how much macs are taking away from the marines you simply have not played ns1, or understood class roles within the game. Macs should not be taking away marines tasks, especially when at certain point having enough macs marines aren't even needed.
I understand people like macs because it looks amazing and they are indeed helpful, but they are ruining everything ns1 was about. commander needs to relay on his marines not bots. These little bots, once you have enough can instantly build, repair and at certain point of the game can be spam-able. their abilities either must be reduced or removed, at current they only ruin balance/class roles.
remember welders? these little tools gave much needed class roles we saw in ns1, every marine had their own job. what do we have now? bots doing marines jobs? game play feels dry, as marine you do very little but fire your gun.
You're absolutely right Harimaru it seems. Anyway luns, it's called a process, it will most freaking likely be looked at sooner rather than later. They most certainly won't be saying "Once the players get enough units, everything will be built and repaired at 800% the normal speed". Just use your common sense, you're using arguments that aren't even valid to why the MACs should be removed, the mere idea that the current implementation is intentional is absurd. I personally hate when I see 10 MACs idling outside the boundaries of the map, swoop down and build a Extractor in five seconds and then go outside the map again, but hey it's a freaking beta.
