Bought the game two days ago... I think I'm a pyromaniac.. <a href="http://img135.imageshack.us/i/fireay.png/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8999/fireay.th.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
Edit: 5 minutes later I die in lava, losing all my stuff except 65 pieces of coal.
Have I learned from my mistake? Well, I now have plans for making a house with lava flowing down it on all sides except the door.

Awesome lavalhill... I just found two lava things in my mine in episode 9 just now (still rendering). First time I actually go into a cave and I was wondering what the glow in the distance was, LAVA. Also found a dungeon with zombos, ######s spawn fast and I suck at melee <img src="http://members.home.nl/m.borgman/ns-forum/smileys/angry.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Hooray! you found a dungeon. If you put a torch on the floor on each side of the mob spawner the zombies won't spawn then you can loot the goodies inside! If you get a saddle you can ride pigs !:D

But that's a lava pyramid! Looks awesome anyway you slice it...
I'll try that torch thing, I think I saw a chest in there when running past the entrance... How many do I need though, should I surround it or something? I'm still trying to devise a plan to get into that dungeon though! I blocked it off for now and secured the surrounding area, I heard some skeletors nearby...
All of which will be seen in episode 10 of course, but if ya wanna see me failing @ dungeon control episode 9 <strike>is uploading @84% as I edit this one...</strike>
Hell, yes. ...as it were <img src="http://i56.tinypic.com/25tbw38.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
(the way it's going to work is like a transport sub-world, in that you enter Hell through a portal, walk some distance, leave Hell and end up much further away than you walked - it was described like the Ways in the Wheel of Time books)
I wonder how reliable method of transportation hell is. I mean, if you Go To Hell standing on the same square, will you always end up in the same square in hell and vice versa.

The following is speculation and describes how i would implement it:
There will be most likely a linear relation between hell and the overworld; lets just say 10 for examples sake.
Your spawn is @ 0,0 There is a place in hell that is linked to your spawn. Lets call it h0,h0
You can teleport from h0,h0 to 0,0 When you walk a step in hell to h0,h1 and teleport back you will land at 0,10, teleport again and you will be at h0,h1 again.
When teleporting from any coordinates to hell that dont give (x,y) MOD 10=(0,0) he just use rounding to put yourself at the nearest hell spawn.
To sum it up:
Every teleporter in hell has a distinct destination in the overworld you will end up at. However several teleporters in the overworld will lead to the same hell destination.
12,4 AND 10,3 will both send you to h1,h0. 12,5 however will send you to h1,h1. Cause 5 MOD 10 >= 5 so you round up.

Reading the update picture it sounds fairly simple.
You walk 10 blocks in hell, and leave, you end up 100 blocks away in reality. It amplifies your movements.
Imagine two spheres, one inside the other, if you walk 10 steps on the outside sphere you will go 10 blocks.
If you teleport down to the inside sphere, walk 10 steps there, then teleport back up, you will have travelled further on the outside sphere.
It's also more interesting than a rocket powered cow mount or whatever.

Actually rockets that let you fly to the moon would be pretty cool.
From the LPs I've watched this game needs more megaprojects, which means more ways to effect changes in the world.
Like in DF you can build a giant doomsday weapon which floods the world with lava at the touch of a button, or build a giant solid platinum smashy bridge to smash people who enter your fort, in minecraft you can't.
Needs more machinery and magic stuff, like the idea that obsidian would be needed for flying islands, except rather than just a block of obsidian you need a giant machine and the machine can relocate all the stuff within 100 blocks of it to any other location and hold it there against gravity if neccesary.
That'd be awesome, especially if you drilled holes in the bottom and put magma in there, teleporting magma spewing doom fortress for the win.

And what happens if you exit hellword and end up inside a mountain? Makes me think of the (ridiculus) fear of unplotted hyperjumps. seriously, there is so much empty space and they think it is a huge risc to jump blindly because you can land in one of those stars that is spreaded with lightyears apart. Awesome! I read about that hell world but didnt actually think of the Ways, makes me feel ashamed of myself :(. I wonder if it really is portals though, as that might be a bad idea, maybe a tool would be better.
If there is portals, I hopw you will have to buil your own in earth realm, and the hellworld generate a world like the Ways (but more hellish than dark), where there is many (infinite?) exits created for each earthrealm portal. With signs or something generated to help you navigate.
