Hmmm.. but I don't want to plod around in heavy armour. Wasn't there some kind of stealth thing that looked nicer? My vanity demands prettiness dammit! XD
As for the Prowler image (because I think that's the Prowler, it doesn't look like a Lightning at all), keep in mind that the main battle tanks now have interchangeable weapons the way BFRs did. It's difficult to say what kind of weapon that is. Anti-tank gun? Twin FLAK cannons? If you ask me, I like the offset guns, but I can hardly imagine that the classic Prowler with two symmetrical cannons isn't in the game.
As for headgear, hold out hope for customisation if you don't want to wear a helmet. In PS1 the cloakers had a dorky-looking balaclava like the one in the middle of this picture.
Looks more like the Lightning than the Prowler, although thinking about it if each side is getting their own air cav, is it possible that each side might be getting their own versions of the Lightning?

eww... I dunno why it's so hard for them to make something that looks cool like a starcraft ghost or something (I love nova's techno-goggles and tied back hair design from the never-made starcraft ghost game :3 )
VS cloakers might get something like that, hard to say. In PS1 the cloaking suits deliberately looked squishy (unlike what Nova wears, which looks like light armour), because cloakers were even less armoured than players in standard exosuit. The standard exosuit was the one you spawned wearing, and unless base power was out or equipment terminals were otherwise unavailable you were supposed to wear it for no longer than the three seconds it took you to change into agile instead.

It's all about the fish armour, baby *hip-thrusts* But to be honest I don't really like the bicycle helmets. Anyway, Galaxy revealed - it does indeed have some AMS capabilities: http://www.planetside2.com/news/jan182012vehicle
QUOTE

Galaxy
The Galaxy is truly a sight to behold. It is a heavily armored air transport that can fly into enemy air space and drop up to 12 soldiers, making this vehicle an invaluable strategic asset. The Galaxy is equipped with the innovative "Hot Drop" system which automatically encapsulates any soldier or MAX unit that bails out with a protective barrier that slows their fall. This system removes the bulkiness and complications of using parachutes. The Galaxy can also be deployed into a forward base when landed. When deployed, respawn tubes and equipment terminals become active, creating a forward staging and fall back point for infantry. Additionally, the four weapon systems on the Galaxy can still be operated while deployed, giving it some static defenses.

Presumably the AMS is gone then, with the Galaxy taking over its role. This changes the game a bit. The AMS was unarmed, but equipped with a cloaking bubble that helped hide it from view. The Galaxy will be armed, allowing it to fight back, so perhaps it'll turn into a fight around an armored strongpoint instead. It hinges on whether orbital strikes are still in the game. In Planetside orbital strikes were restricted to command rank 4 and 5 (small and large OS respectively), but with everyone and his little brother having those ranks even the five hour cooldown didn't prevent an orbital strike from going off every few minutes in the heat of battle, and they were the most common cause of an AMS' demise.
I still fondly remember the time we were about to do a Galaxy drop on an NC tech facility. For those who don't know or remember, tech facilities had two vehicle terminals: One in the basement for ground vehicles, and one on the roof for aircraft. Galdrops frequently targeted the roof because the command console was directly behind the air vehicle terminal room. But that terminal room was always lousy with enemies, which meant that you risked being stuck on the roof for a few moments, which was a hazardous time, and often what made or broke a galdrop. Worse, enemy orbital strikes on the roof were common during galdrops for precisely this reason, and every air chav (that's what we called people who used air cavalry, i.e. the Mosquito and Reaver) in range would try to bag himself a few infantrists too.
So we loaded a full Galaxy, including a buggy with me and Revangel in the back. For the record, that was six passengers in Reinforced Exosuits, two in MAXes, three gunners in rexo and two more rexos in the buggy, with the pilot being the only one in a comparatively squishy Agile Exosuit. Our pilot was Tibor, an eastern european with severe language barrier issues. I don't even know what country he was from or how he ended up in our outfit, but what he lacked in ability to communicate with us he made up for in tactical awareness. The man always seemed to know exactly when we would need a Galaxy and would have one ready.
So we headed towards the target, our tailgunner managing to fend off a lonely Mosquito along the way. But as we approached it was clear that the damnable smurfs weren't going to let us off easy, because suddenly Mosquitos started buzzing around us like... well, mosquitos, and I could see two Reavers climbing to meet us as well. They didn't stop us though - we overflew the target, and thirteen heavily armed and armoured soldiers rained down on the roof of the tech facility. Thirteen heavily armed and armoured soldiers, two in MAXes and another two sitting in a buggy. Half the air chavs dove after us while the other half went after the defenseless Galaxy with Tibor still in it. The guy didn't stand a chance.
But this is the part where I tell you what kind of buggy me and Revangel were sitting in. It was a Skyguard, a buggy whose main weapon is a twin-barrel FLAK cannon, and I would have paid to see the expression of the air chavs as they realized that. Two Mosquitos exploded before we even touched down on the roof, and another one made the mistake of following anyway and got the same treatment. The squad got in safely, and warning messages informed me and Revangel that our buggy was parked illegally (vehicles weren't allowed to drive around on rooftops) and would despawn in twenty seconds. We bailed right as a CR5 orbital strike began powering up, and we both mashed our surge implants to get inside before we were vaporized. The door had closed behind our guys, but the hack on it was good for half a minute so it opened at our approach. We both got inside an instant before the OS struck, hilariously killing no more than two random footzergers in the courtyard.
Inside, our squad was fighting well but taking casualties. We were organized and well equipped for the fight and our Pounder MAXes did a good job of suppressing the smurfs, but their damnable Scatter MAXes and Jackhammers were superb for close range combat. It was while I was repairing one of our damaged MAX users that I saw that smurf air chavs were bailing out of their aircraft and dropping down on the roof to attack us from behind. Our other Pounder MAX was covering the door and keeping them at bay for a moment, but it was just a question of time before they would get inside. We couldn't last fighting on two fronts.
And just like in a good action movie, it was precisely at this moment, when things were at their bleakest, that the cavalry rode in. The cavalry in this case being a single, incommunicado eastern european guy in a heavily damaged, unarmed transporter. Tibor's smouldering Galaxy came crashing down on the roof of the tech facility, blowing him and five smurf air chavs to smithereens. The cheering on Teamspeak was incredible.
Whether Tibor's heroism broke the smurfs' spirits, or whether it just boosted our morale, or whether the rest of the TR fighting in the base below had finally managed to secure the staircase and choke off the enemy's constant supply of reinforcements, I don't know. But we took the command console soon afterwards, and the NC didn't even try to resecure. The base was ours, and victory tasted like rainbows and light summer rain.
For all its faults, I did have a lot of fun in that game.

..ideal to have a lil snack in the middle of an enemy base
Everyone loved the AMS, but I don't mind its functionality being rolled into the Galaxy. The hot dog van is now a huge hot dog transport. That's way more hot dogs.
