When a team loses in the top bracket they get moved down into the lower bracket and get a chance to continue in the tournament. The team that loses match 1 goes down to L1 and plays against the loser of match 2 (L2). The winner of that match goes on to play the loser of match 16 and so on.
IMO this would be a better and fairer for everyone. You need to lose two matches before you get knocked out so it means every team gets at least 2 games. However that would mean double the amount of matches for you.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Just pick a few games a week to cast. I still think there should be a few live ones too, or at the very least the finals.
I have to agree, double elimination is way better and better ensures the two best teams meet at the finals, but I believe it potentially adds an extra week? I think I'm wrong, if Winners finals, Losers finals and actual finals are all in the same day? (loser of the Losers finals are then 3rd place, I think? If the Winner of Losers finals beats the Winner of Winners Finals, it turns into a Bo7? Rofl, that sounds confusing)
I can also cast the matches I'm not in btw, but I cannot record a second perspective and so forth I'm afraid - I got some experience casting Dystopia if that helps.

What are your plans on trying to fairly balance the flawed (beta) balance system in NS2? Class limitations? Turret limitation? Cloaking block? etc. I'm curious what your plans are! :)

I like the double elimination bracket. As was said, all games need not be recorded to help speed things along. But the double elimination is certainly preferable as it does indeed guarantee that the two best teams meet in the finals. With double elimination, the seeding is less important, but still makes a difference. I suggest that established teams that have already played competitive matches be given higher seeds.

I would hope so (well, more specifically, winning both halves of a round, not necessarily 2 in a row). This helps eliminate any balance issues, as right now if you are lucky enough to start as alien, you have a much better chance of winning the match. With the 2 in a row rule, it really doesn't matter what side you start as and even if the balance in a patch is horrible, it's still fair as you'll play until one team can win with the underpowered side.

Also, +1 for the double elimination. To lighten the casting load on Hugh, maybe he could designate other willing/non-participating community members to cast the videos (Tempest or Kouji_San, for example) with another member (could be participating) to record the match. So for any non-NS2HD casted video, there could potentially be up to two extra people (the caster and the recorder).
It'd be pretty simple to setup a vent/TS/mumble server for the caster/recorder to meet in, so it could be livecast and uploaded quickly after the match. I'd also suggest creating a separate YouTube channel for the tournament that all the casters/recorders could quickly upload their videos too. After the tournament, if Hugh isn't sick of casting NS2, he could even select a few of the very good non-NS2HD casted videos to highlight on his channel.
The double elimination system is also nice because it gives every team a chance to play atleast 2 games, which I think makes the tourney more fun for all the teams.
Edit: And I can easily make double elimination brackets with odd number of teams, if we want to add more teams.

To clarify the 2 win in a row suggestion. It's not 2 wins in a row, it's 2 wins in the same round.
For example, if a team loses as marine, wins as alien, and then wins as alien again, that team does NOT win yet. They must win as marine in the next round to be declared victors (their victories must be at least 2 wins better than their opponent).
no i thought it was 2 played rounds you have to win in a row rounds meaning everytime they switch sides they dont need to win 2 games in a row. games defined as between different teams or clans.
so winning 2 rounds in a row would win them the game.
