There will be no postponing. Teams will have an allotted time to play, after which a victor will be declared. I am still mulling over what the victory conditions will be in the case of 'time's up,' and what the time limits will be.

Scheduling all the 8 first matches in one weekend is going to be a nightmare. 8 matches, with potential draws, commentating, editing, uploading... You won't get sleep at all this whole weekend. Where do we issue donations for coffee, redbull, and cocaine for NS2HD to stay awake (alive ?) ?

Right now an Oct 30 start is looking more likely - It's a quieter season for me at work, and will give me more time to perfect a casting schedule for a possible double elimination, and will mean there's a whole month of features added for us to play with. I imagine we will be at about build 189 by then.
All team leaders, if you haven't already please send an email to NS2HD@live.com.au so I have your contact details
Not sure if it's me or you, but something is fishy here. A double elimination tournament with 16 teams would last eight weeks, if one round is played every week. If the first match is played on the 30th of October, the final would be played on the 18th of December earliest. That's barring any delays at all -- which in my experience, there always is. I've never seen a tournament that didn't run into some sort of unforseen circumstance and get delayed at some point. Tournaments with strict admining have less delays of course, but there's always some delay. It's the nature of the beast -- online tournaments run by amateurs (I don't mean amateur in the derogatory sense) with amateur participants.

Fielding a lineup at that point is least to say iffy.
@all the speculation above: There will be no ties. There will be no games played in December. The tournament will be played over one month or less.
The reasons for a 30 Oct start are as follows: 1. Quieter season at work. 2. More time to create animations/music. 3. More time to gather and grow the prize pot. 4. Greater chanceof double elimination. 5. My bro and right hand man cannot help me until 30 Oct due to personal circumstances. 6. More time to organise a tight schedule. 7. Playing on build ~189 instead of ~186 8. Halloween is the perfect time to launch an NS2 tournament.

Okay, lower bracket teams will have to play two matches a week then if double elimination. Never seen that done successfully before either, but I hope it works out for you. You may want to prepare a list of teams that can step in when already registered teams inevitably die during the two month wait though.
Double eliminations are problematic, I can say this with a lot of experience running cups in ENSL. They're not very efficient either, whole cup of teams might have to wait for 1 team to finish their game. In the time you get it done, you might aswell play a league and play much more games. Also playing more than 1 match per week hasn't ever worked very well.

I think I should mention that 2 games per week per team is a challenging idea. We never got it to work properly, maybe it was bad scene or admins but I would not advise trying it.
Important suggestion: could you set up a Steam Group for CL's so its easier to arrange practice matches and officials alike?
All team leaders, you should have an email in your inbox from me asking you to fill out a form. Take your time to get the time zones right, I'd love it if they were back within a week but two is ok if some players decide to be lazy :).

It's going to be fun playing with 200 ping or greater on Oceania servers. I can already smell the rage.

Actually I set up the group myself

There has been a change of leadership in ns2au, green has dropped out due to personal issues. Could you please update myself as the ns2au captain.
Not sure if he has filled in the form, if not could you send me a PM.
Thanks,

I will donate two as well. If we get another kind soul the whole team can earn NS2 preorders.
