I voted for individual scores to be hidden for both teams.
Let's not kid ourselves, Kharaa are no less teamwork-dependant than marines.
I do hope that the [/sarcasm] tags were missing from that post...
^_^
well its important for marines to know which alien to kill first, also an alien with many frags can take the role of orginizer of offense (kinda like hockey and alternate team captains) since Kahraa dont have a commander the guy with most kill can coordinate the offensives! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
The only reason I would like marine scores on pubs is if I were trying to find the top players on a server, it would give me a better idea of who to check out first (would make it easy too see who sucks as well, could have a marine with 25 kills or so but who just runs around the map looking for aliens, he may be good with a gun but he would be useless to a clan unless he changed his attitude.)
I wouldn't have a problem with all scores being removed from pub games, but tournament mode should have both team's scores, since anyone playing on a server in tourny mode shouldn't be effected by the display of scores. If the scores change how they play, they probably are not fit to be playing on a team that plays on tournament mode servers...
Get rid of all scores, heck, please throw the friggin code that counts the frags out. It is a relic of times long past (no offense, Relic <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> ), and doesn't have anything to do in a game like NS, which clearly is not about personal scores at all.
I voted to show the kills for both teams.
I play both sides frequently, and I have not noticed the aliens playing with any less or more teamwork than the marines despite the fact their kills are visible. If anything, showing the kills helps the opposing team by letting them identify the most skilled enemy players.
It is true that kills are not the full measure of a player's contribution to his or her team. If a large number of people really believe showing the kills affects the way people play, I suggest adding additional scoreboard information like the number of enemy structures destroyed, structures built, etc. Maybe marines ought to have a special column for "fades killed" : )
Currently, "show all scores all the time" and "show all scores in tourny mode" combined are winning, but individually, hide all is winning.
I voted for show all in tourny (proposed v1.1).
That doesnt make sense. How would you have time to decide whether the alien is the top scorer or not? Why would you selectively kill aliens? Kill them all. By the time you see their names they should either be dead or they're standing over your corpse.
That's an excellent point! Perhaps in 1.1, all scores could be hidden for everyone except for the commander? (And all shown in tourny mode)
That would still be the best idea though.
I apologize if the following offends anyone...
This is the stupidest thing I've EVER seen said on the boards. NS is the ONLY game I know of where teamwork is FORCED. This game is about strategy, working together, having fun and meeting new people. Frags are on the bottom of the list. And if I hear "like in <gamename>" one more time, I'm going to scream. Go play that game if you like that system so much, this is NS, not "Mutilate the game and eventually make it only worthy of the name "Super-Rambo Fragfest"".
EDIT!!: If it was a joke, I retract my previous statements.
As for "commanders need to know", it's been discussed. Good commanders know who follows orders just fine without having a scoreboard.

Good point. I remember in TFC a team would tear itself apart and wouldn't cap the flag cause they didn't wanna 'steal each others cap'... so instead the flag wasn't capped at all.... idiots...
Its not hard to check scores now, type status in the console.
<b>No Scores</b> for Public Servers (Promotes Teamplay)
<b>All Scores</b> for Tournament Mode (Shouldn't affect teamplay so the more Info/Stats the better)
Thanks for asking.
and All scores for Tornie Mode, for NS ladders and Clan stuff
what if the best alien player is playing gorge and no one listens to him cos he has 0 frags <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->?
The aliens already have their kills shown, I very rarely hear anyone brag about how many kills someone got.
Sure, NS is a team game, but why not let the better players (skulks who can take down 4 marines grouped together, or a marine who can shoot down 3 skulks in one clip) be recognized by having their score shown?
That's just IMO.

So true... I was playing on a TFC server with a clan I knew and was pretty close with, and a teammate made a run on the flag and dropped it near the center of the map. I picked it up and started running with it, assuming that it would be a Bad Thing to let the enemy camp the flag. Of course, I start hearing screams of "That's my flag! Drop it!". I ignored him, because I just wanted to cap the damn thing, scores be damned, but next thing I know... "You have been kicked by console"
Of course, I reported the clan member's action to the leader, and it seems that others had noted this sort of action, he didn't last long <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
