    I took a look at the generators from Eclipse and both look nothing like the one is there. In fact, while the concept may be the same, the design is different. I can still use the concept though.

    And I like the textures I use, in fact, and Kouji San agrees that he likes them too.     Your using the same concept, design basis, technique, what freaking ever it looks like crap because its boring, bland and looks like a stripped down official map. End of.

    EDIT: Accept peoples opinions never challenge them unless its something obsurd like "Too square, need new textures", thats what I do.

    Notice how I dont use the exact same texture, nor the logo, nor the very same arcitecture at ALL. (nor the same lighting) In fact, the pipes arent there either! Oh wow! Neither are two huge generators!

    Flat walled, curving around at a base, having a logo independantly at the top, with two horizontal energy generators with original clamping system around them (neither used by eclipse or veil) also, the fact that there is a WINDOW with particle lights and circular light fixtures around them (with lights coming out. ooooooh)

    Sure, the texture type is the same (while not exactly the same) but the arcitecture is mine, and not eclipse nor veils.

    The skybox is a mars skybox, and I dont see everyone clamoring all over it when other people put that into their map. I have no idea where DarkATi went and he hasnt answered my calls, so, I have to make due for the time being.

    And yes brute_force, it is exactly what you would have done.

    I've known brute force a while via these forums and IRC. When I came back little over 2 weeks ago after my 4 months without a pc able to map or play games like NS decently you immedietely became one of those guys like amckern and nexus before you, always getting flamed. Do what I plan to do from now on, lower the flaming. If it sucks I say it sucks, okay I gave you a vague reason "looks like eclipse", but deal with it.

    EDIT: Missed out a bit lol,

    BF doesn't attack or flame for no reason, normally he does go with the majority or those that are prepared to say stuff like "map sucks, looks like eclipse" or "don't listen to them I like it" because he too believes it. He will protect the other persons opinion without saying his own opinion because the other person opinion actually is his, so you see a "no reason" flame from BF never occurs.     Don't use the Eclipse logo. It's only for use in Eclipse and Veil.

    Well Recoup, it actually doesnt matter that much that the architecture or texturing is different. People will always have a first impression of it being a lookalike of eclipse or veil since the two are well known as is their style...

    I don't mind it as long as you are able to keep the rest of the map more in your 'own' style, which is also very difficult to do since you are using the wall_lab textures... You could try using a different ambient lighting color to make it look different, but that also might make it look ugly.

    Using wall_lab textures this excesive that they are the dominating texture troughout the map will always give it the eclipse or veil look, no matter what you do to architecture. It's a tremendous task you set yourself to create an original looking map with these textures.

    Its not going to dominate entirely. I show you a wall and its jutting bit coming out of it, and somehow this is going to affect the entire map. But regardless, I need to find something to properly match up with the blue hall lights that are encompassing the entire map. On the left, there should be a hallway down to a corridor with a laaaaaarge window that has a shutter you can open and close. There wont be any lights in the hall, so, aliens can shut the windows to block out the light, and marines can open them up to shed some "light" on the situation. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    BF and thursday: why must you always jump to conclusions and start hurling excessive criticism? indeed, he did use the logo, but can't you just say "it looks a lot like veil, and you're using the logo. get rid of the logo and try to make it look more original"? it's really not too difficult, and being excessively critical won't help anything most of the time.

    Even if it does look like eclipse/veil, and even inspired or an attempt at making something like eclipse or veil, why can't you just let him have his fun with it? I think everyone has heard the phrase "imitation is the highest form of flattery." He'll probably get bored with it eventaully and stop using the textures (which is really the only thing you're being critical about. any other textures and suddenly it's not KFS styled). Besides which, the eclipse/veil style looks good no matter who it was created by. I can even remember someone making a map that looked FAR more similar to eclipse than this does, and people applauded him for it.
    long story short, if you think it looks bad say it looks bad and end it at that. Let's try to keep things a bit more friendly like they used to oh-so long ago.

    Recoup, i think it looks fine, if it is a little bit plain. Take the logo out, put some more detail brushes in the walls, and possibly try to make the generator tubes a different style/texture whatever. It'll save a lot of trouble for you in the future.

    hmm realy impressive change the sky its dark maybe some thing with blue colors etc. And add some lights the cellig looks great but walls are very dark. Add some light on both sides of the entrance. Realy great looking map. Keep up the good work.

    I never "hurled excessive critiscism". He's the one who started by flamebaiting me by saying "Now brute_force will storm in here any minute now and say it sucks" without even giving me a chance. If I find a map I don't like, I will usually simply ignore the thread (unless I feel like giving pointers). If you find my post in the Gendo thread, you'll see I was the first one to actually give him pointers (of course nexus ignored these, as always, but still) while everyone else pretty much said it sucks. I hate it when I'm not even given a chance.

    Well brute, so far from the posts you have made on the map in the last thread (deleted for some reason, I dont know what happened after I left) you didnt offer much in the way of help as opposed to sheer hatred. In my time of making the map you have offered me almost nothing to help in its construction, so yeah, Im going to jump to conclusions. Im not flamebaiting you, Im jumping to conclusions, which I feel are quite accurate due to your previous behavior.

    H|CarNagE^8th: I plan on getting some more lights on the walls now that you mention it, and a new sky made by DarkATi if he EVER pops back into the loop, since he said "Yeah, ok, so, what do you want me to make?" and I replied, and got no reply from him since. He made the skybox on the co_vertigo map, but it was lost in the format of my computer.

    tatz: i very much like that screen. it has a de-LISH-us feel to it.

    However you could use a texture overlay on your lights so they don't stand out as much.

    also perhaps you should try lighting the hive so its not that black color but that may be fixed once you did the clipping fix.

    try not to go for the box approach, also those light fixtures on the ceiling look pretty weird. The pipes along the wall look good apart from the light on the bottom, just looks out of place and for a marine start it looks pretty small

    Regarding co_waste:

    The plant is probably black because models in half-life get their lighting data from the ground below them. If the entity is sticking too far into the ground, it might not be getting any light data. Just my 2 cents. The room looks interesting, will probably look even better with some accent lighting above the pipes and below the hive itself.
