Wow, I must say I am impressed on the net code capabilities. LIke, really really impressed.

Actually, Flayra has been largely responsible for NS's excellent netcode, as far as I know. Three releases in a row, every time we got in-game Flayra would say "So guys, notice any improvements in the netcode? I tweaked it some more."

Whoa he can do THAT? He truly is the programming master!

I just had an odd thought.
*twitch twitch twitch* <----- spazzy
*tweak tweak tweak* <------ spiffy

both words start with "sp" and end in "y" while the middle is supplied with a vowel followed by double consenent(sp?). And twitch and tweak seem to go naturally together. Oh dear.. i ventured offtopic...

Umm.. Booyaka Flayra!

to sum it all up
flayra is god.

Necro: hmmm... sounds good.

It really bothers me the people who thing modders do nothing to the netcode- Digital paintballs netcode is amazing. I said that once on a server and some idiot was like "Bah, u reteard, th moderz dont changee the netcoid!" I pointed out I animated for 2 mods, and that I'd proabably know a little more than a guy who cant spell out "the". He laughed, saying "w0w ge an aninamator, u don do anythin!!!!!!1". Sigh.. what a doofus...

I think there should be a special place in hell for people like that.

A place were everything looks like a pure white box.

No... everything should be a crappy hollowed out room with the AAA trigger as its texture and no console to use hacks.

/me drags this back on-topic.

Here's a real quicky. The marines had moved from the Marine Start in Hera to the Holoroom at the beginning of the game, and from there had taken the hive in Archiving. Archiving is a nasty 2-story room with a walkway all the way around the upper level. There's infestation *everywhere*, and very limited space for marines to build structures. We were getting the raw end of it after we lost the Holoroom, fighting frantically to stave off a seemingly endless tide of Lerks and Fades assaulting us with Spore Clouds and Acid Rockets.

Upon spawning, I started running for an entrance to head them off, as it were; if we could just get turrets up in the forward half of the room, we'd have some breathing room and might even be able to pull something miraculous off. But as I ran down the catwalk, a Fade appeared around the bend, heading right for me. He was as surprised to see me, I think, as I was unhappy to see him.

A 1-on-1 between a Marine and a Fade is suicide for the marine; even worse, I had no upgrades and only a Light Machine Gun to defend myself. I started backpedalling as fast as I could (but a marine backpedals slower than he runs forward), firing my LMG at the hulking creature bearing down on me and completely intent on shredding my face with his razor-sharp claws. He only gained as my clip dwindled from 50, to 25, to 10 bullets left. I swear he filled my screen when suddenly he stopped. I let go of the trigger, 3 bullets left in my magazine, and watched in amazement as the Fade (which had apparently been wounded already) slumped to the ground, dead.

That was a good quick one coil, very nice description and atmosphere, made me think I could Smell the smoke from the gun for a minute there. P.S. Finish it!(the story I mean)

Finish it? We eventually had our acid-charred behinds handed to us. Without turrets, there was no way we could hold that room. ):

Interesting. What happens when we actually get to play this game? I think this should stay open for some of our stories.

DooM = the scariest game of all time, hands down... i remember playing that game when it first came out. i must have finished half the game in the first sitting. about 3 in the morning with the headphones on, volume blasted, lights off... and that kickass music. send chills down my spine.

AND i have read 2 of the four doom novels (first two) and they are 2 of the best books ive ever read, knee deep in the dead is AWESOME! i wish i could find it. im looking for the box set on ebay.

LONG LIVE DooM! BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!! (Ric Flair style)WHOOOOOOOOOOO!
