Ok, but go into battle like that in real life and have fun getting your legs eaten off . It would be fine if you just used that face though, atleast it would look better.

It actually might be easier just to take a Tomb Raider model and skin it with the TSA armor. That way we dont have to fight about how big its thighs would be. Of course, the helmet would go down over her eyes, so we wouldnt really know it was her.

At least he has made some sort of effort.

Let's see your attempt to compare the artistic details shall we?

So, what to do about this thread...

Well, for a start, Surge, here's a present from me to you... 1 week in the cooler to learn how to treat other people with a modicum of respect, *especially* those people who at the very least are trying to give something back to the community.

As for the rest of you... by all means try my patience, I am feeling a little less than friendly to the bunch of you who see it as their 'right' to pour vitriol on someone just for the crime of making an effort... Go on... give me a reason....

Either cop on, start learning some basic *respect* or my virtual boot will be connecting with your backsides faster than you can say 'o.m.g.'

If you have *constructive* criticism (as a good few people here have done) then by all means add it... but "this sucks" is *not* criticism, it's low brow ignorance.

Basically, cop the hell on and realise that it's another *human being* at the other end of the 'line'.

joev.

(Don't make me come up there again...)

Boom.

I for one think its a great start. To the "OMG its the marine skin only smaller!" people, well duh, the women are going to have similar uniforms. Just because it's a woman dosn't mean different equipment or outfits.

commandox20, do you have the skin and model files available? I've had a moderate level of experience skinning, and would love to have a go at the face. PM me if you like.

The picture of proportion b/w men and women the women models legs are to long it looks like the middle armor is a diaper... this is just my opinion is there anyway to fix this? Good work thus far though.Keep it up!!

Welcome [DT]Strongbad.

commandox20 would know for sure, but that may come down to a skinning issue as well. He's working from the marine model, re-proportioning it, so it may (and does look a bit) stretched.

I think thats your eyes my friend I didn't move or scale anything in the | direction just the --- direction. If I move something too much then it gets all screwy in animation mode.

Really trying to wrap it up guys,

I want to thank all of you for the feedback, most of you have been helpful, I hope it shows in the final product.

(edit): kinda phibbed, I did indeed shrink the arms a bit in the | direction. But thats about it.
Gotta keep the body lined up with the bones or it becomes very fubar. I had a problem with the fingers being stretched really far when I first started.

i would say just add a few colours to define the features of the model, even ingame in some areas it looks a bit bland, but overall it looks good :o

Of course Sheena's is better ^.^ she probably drew a sketch, scanned it, colored it twice for perfection, and it probably took a minimum of three to a maximum of twelve hours.

On the other hand mine was poorly thought out, not reconstructed onto paper, not even colored, and took a maximum of an hour and a half. It was just cut and paste, cut and paste, sloppy sloppy cut and paste

I could make a TSA Tombraider model, maybe... But it'd only be a model, no skins, no skeleton. I can make a model though.

Well, to contribute my few pennies to this thread,

The male-female model comparison is rather squished laterally, hence giving the impression of the legs being "too thin" or "too long". Just clearing up a few things.

(P.S. I feel that the nympho model is not a good female head to start on, imho, but hey, atleast you made a good model out of it, keep up the good work and don't let idiots pull you dow! )

Great job man, I like the female model! I will DL when it comes out ( I am the kinda guy that will pick the females in fighting games and Pwn you!!! HELENA 4 LIFE!!!!1 ) But I just have three suggestions

1) Make the hips a lil bit wider
2) make limbs a lil fatter (not that much, but not as thick and the male
3) make the Thighs a lil thicker but still "paralel" to the hips (think hourglass)

I think I read that your too keen on female anatomy, so i may recomend and unusual tip

Download Pr0n.

I am serious, I can hear you all laughing but just get "body pics" and get the general Idea on how women are 'built'
I use it for art purposes i swear!!!!!

but you see what i mean by hips and thighs and stuff
I know it sucks but you get the idea

your right I bursted into laughter, heheheehahahahahhahahhaah roflmao.

Okay sorry, lost my composure there for a moment...

Uh no actually im trying just to get the general shape of the body right im not focusing on any specific part of the body, as i've said on other pages, im trying for a non sexest model (porn chicks as references wouldnt help me thinks), I just want this to look like a female you'd run into at like...well anywhere just a normal human, just like the marine. Not a tomb raider, not a porn/sex icon..

Im really interested in female gamers opinions on this. Let it be known if you're female and tell me what you think of this model from your perspective, would you use it to represent yourself?

yes skinning is what goes on the model to represent arms, legs, hands, mouth everything.

I might just release it with the skin it has and let others do as they wish to the skin.

gee, what a load this one is..... and people wonder why "no good models are ever made in the NS modelling community". Conversions to the left, hackjobs to the right, and if you have some serious critisms about a model than if you don't word it right you get shot down. The first part of modelling is being able to take critism, because it will take you a LOT of time to actually get to a good quality in your work... you will never improve if you just ignore the complaints from others. You know, most of the talented modellers didn't actually release their first works, even those made from scratch. That's why it's called a LEARNING process, you can't just expect to jump into modelling and suddenly have skills, it's something you have to work on like all art. "If you have nothing good to say don't say anything at all" is REALLY not appropriate for an art community. I encourage people giving detailed and informed responses, but is it the end of the world if someone doesn't like my model? I prefer honest feedback instead of the traditional "kiss, kick, kiss, kick" method of critiqueing which has become evident in these forums.

Now with that rant aside, here is my HONEST opinion of your model. It's a hackjob and a bad one at that. It feels like you clicked the "scale" button in HL model viewer than pasted an ugly face on top of it. We've got this toothpick marine who was made by skinnying up the default model. No creativity, no real effort or thought. It's an idea that has been suggested about 100 times before and suddenly someone actually does it, and unfortunately does a poor job of it. I feel sorry that a decent idea got slaughtered so... I'd say make some real concept art, make is somewhat more unique than "a thin male marine" and then make it from scratch. You will learn a lot more, even if the model's quality doesn't end up that great it's a much better learning experience for modelling and skinning. As I've already stated, you don't HAVE to release every learning step you've ever made... that's one of the reasons this forum has so many posts to sift through to find anything of value. The face, the ONLY part perhaps that you did from scratch... looks like it was made out of 6 polygons and a gradient. You are seriously underestimating the amount of work that should be put into a model and it shows through very clearly. I hope you actually pay attention to this critique, because it WAS well thought out by myself. I just hope that I can still access the NS forums after I return from my figure drawing class later today.

Actually, figure drawing classes are immensely handy things to do if you have the opportunity. You learn a lot.

If you have an art school near you they might run evening or weekend classes that non-art students can attend. It's worth looking into.
