Of course not. 3.0 will be out "when it's ready".

I wouldn't be surprised if 3.0 was out soon. Sure, it missed the "holiday release", but 3.0e feels "pretty good around the [w]hole" <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Though, there's always more things that Flayra can put into a patch if he needs to stall a release to give a map more playtesting time <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yeah, but I've also heard of some (rare) serious hitbox issues.

Thoses issues were really always there, just neva approached till now. All hl mods have the same prob, but 3.0 has it much worse than any other mod....

This is a problem with half-life not putting the hitbox in the right place, and it has been seen in all half-life mods. There is a demo of the problem in General Discussion somewhere.

This isn't STEAM, this is HL. The first release of Counter-Strike on WON suffered from this. You had to shoot behind someone to kill them, sometimes you couldn't kill them at all.

Flayra e-mailed Lazer to let him know that he planned to include Nancy in the next build of NS. We haven't seen that new (3.0f) version yet and so everyone who is part of the beta will presumeably see it very soon.

"Vet" is if you emailed a roster of at least 6 people to the ATI tourny leaders and it got through. The scrim laws are not inforced yet so no one has been kicked out. The Vet icon lost its prestige with this influx but thats another subject.(true vet=top 5 clans of 1.0).

No, that would make you a Constellation Member, he is on about Veterans (even though most are nubs)

Vets are genrally members of clans who were entered into the NS tourney, even if their clan came last and they were the worst player they would have gained vet status. Consties in my opinion gain more respect, and its easier to become a constie <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Vet's only gain respect if they are in a good clan and are known. Otherwise people don't really respect them that much because they could be anyone. CMs have donated at least 20 dollars to the game so there is some respect gained right there, but I have seen some CMs that were completely disrespectful to everyone. Having any of these statuses hardly means anything now. It is how you do as an individual (or as a clan) that gets you respect.

Anyway, yes we are waiting for 3.0f. What is taking so long we dunno.

Since when you donate you are given access to the beta, and therefore can play it, you are testing the code and therefore are a PlayTester also. Now, you don't have the official Play Tester status, but you still gain access to the beta. And he didn't say he wanted to be a vet, he said he wanted to be a playtester then asked what a vet is. Either way he would be able to playtest the beta so I guess it doesn't matter.

A Constie is not a playtester, by position. Consties have been granted access to the beta for the time being, which may or may not be carried through... that much is undecided.

And as for the non-scrimming Vets. 3.0e is scrimmable on both NS and NS:C sides. Expect the four-scrim rulings to start knocking lazyfeet and tourists out of the mix soon. I personally only expect about 10% at best of our 'new' Veterans to keep the tag.
  • TechwidTechwid Join Date: 2002-11-13 Member: 8440Members, Constellation
And Talesin says it more eloquontly. The point is, he can playtest the code of 3.0 right now if he joined the constellation program.

Just curious, I was hearing that Flay and the Dev team were happy with the play test overall, and if thats true then I would imagine the CM's would continue to have access to the betas. You hear anything more about that Talesin?

Some of us want to, but have trouble, due to problems.

My clan, when it was called MUGA, applied for vet, and got it. 10 members became vets, and we scrimmed often (Sometimes multiple times a night).

Then the clan had a reorganization, and we became NCR. Mostly the same members, but the roster was different enough that we lost many of the original vet-members. Now in order to scrim 3.0, we have to use clan members who ARE NOT vet, but only CMs.

We sent an email to Elven ages ago, still waiting. Not much we can do until our new vet roster is put in; we can't really be blamed for not scrimming 3.0 much, as it's hard to get enough people to scrim when you only have like 5 vets in your clan <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I've been considering donating to NS Constellation for some time now, I think I will in the near future. It'd be cool to playtest the betas but really NS simply deserves a donation from me. It is truly the greatest mod out there ATM, no other mod pushes the limits like NS and still performs like a dream!

Do you realize that the source code for bast was lost? It was the same type of thing as with nancy, except the compiled version of bast was usable in 2.0, while nancy's compiled version was not usable. Bast can't be changed at all unless someone recreates the source code for it (as far as my understanding of mapping goes, which is just what I have read in this thread).
