I just like to play NS, and man or women, get my team to work as a team, and not fight among each other.
Nothing annoys me more than people swearing down the mic, yelling at people to do this do that.. As end of the day, people will often play better in a nice enviroment, than in a "FFS N00B PUT M0RE f***ING CHAMBERS UP!!11111"
Well I don't have a problem with girls playing online games. They are as good as we men are. My clan has 3 girl clan members, and they can whoop your butt to pieces.
Many of the little boys who make sexist comments online have never had a date or spent any reasonable time around woman <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo--> , and quite frankly they are scared of you. Realize what they are saying is out of fear and not hate. Then move to servers where the regulars are a bit older <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo--> and you should be fine. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyone notice that some people go through the grieving process when they meet a possible girl online:
1 - Denial: 'Your just a bloke pretending to be a girl...' 2 - Anger: 'Get back in the kitchen/bedroom where you belong!!!' 3 - Acceptence: They just act normally...
I don't what that means but I'm sure anyone who has Psyc 101 will have an opinion.
And remeber girls: If a person gives you hassle its only because they are a 14 year old sunlight virgin who has to take out their anger on you online because IRL they are petrified of girls.
<!--QuoteBegin--Kid-A+Sep 8 2003, 12:12 PM--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Kid-A @ Sep 8 2003, 12:12 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> 1 - Denial: 'Your just a bloke pretending to be a girl...' 2 - Anger: 'Get back in the kitchen/bedroom where you belong!!!' 3 - Acceptence: They just act normally... <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> That's a good point (and yes, btw, I've been through psych 101).
I haven't seen a lot of denial, but then again I don't bother protesting because I don't really care. I don't go in screaming "HEY IM A GIRL," but occasionally someone brings up my playername and it goes from there.
Anger comes from the younger ones. Denial seems to come from the general community, because girls tend to be a rarity, so it's more disbelief... and then that goes to acceptance.
Most people act it'll change their life to know whether a person is a girl/young kid and don't believe the own person's word. I just don't care. If they're girls - I suppose that's good, you can play too and I suppose you're allowed to (no reason why not). Move on they're not like endangered species or anything spectacular. If they're not - so what. too bad? Well yeah, but don't cry over it or anything.
Just put it this way - they're people, they play just like you the same game as you and that's about all that really matters in a gaming world and that's all you could have really been sure of (cough cough AOL rooms) Though I have still to meet IRL another NS player and if that could be a girl that'll be great <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo-->

There's some behaviour that doesn't make sense though, e.g. if you already know the gender of someone, why ask for the partially redundant ASL?
Also, part of the verbal aggression might be caused by attempts to make the girl leave the server before she kills them. It could just be fear.
I remember the time when A/S/L used to be a friendly greeting, not the hunting cry of the wild perv.
Can I just point out that while most of you say:
"I act the same around girls" or "It doesn't matter as long as they play good" or "Doesn't make any difference", this topic is now into it's 6th page in under a day, I believe.
Kthxbye.
Also note that being a girl does not alway negate the posibility of being a 12 year-old annoying teenager, aka my sister, who thankfully does NOT play NS....
I love playing NS with girls on my team. I find that they most times go marines, which is nice!
Girls like "Jane" are awesome to play with. She has such a cute voice and it makes me smile when she gets all Mad over the voice comm. Plus shes a great player and a nice person to boot!
I don't have any problems with girls being on the server or my team, if anything I like to see them playing. makes be feel like less of a geek, cause now girls are getting heavy into gaming also!

In [RWTD] our dod clan we have a female in it, I sometimes pretty much forget that she is a female (no offence), but I'm so used to playing in the game with her. You just forget that their are other genders in the server...
<a href='http://www.rwtd.org' target='_blank'>RWTD.org</a> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> (I am Gr00nz) - (join our forums and our server)
Everyone here is right in their own way I personally am a male and i enjoy the company of girls not to have sex or mac on them just cause i feel safer and personally all around better because most girls i know are not complete **** holes like the males and i also prefer female clan mates. why you may ask .. because to me it seems like females are attracted to all types of games so you can play WAR3 or CS or homeworld 2 demo with them while they are still you clan mate for NS or anything else they are also more reliable. While guys are on AIM trying to cyber girls will be doing something helpful such as when a clan match pops up they are probably gonna be the first ones to answer and wanna join and kick some **** they also seem likke they are the best commanders they look at what the team needs not one person or 2 persons wanting jetpacks theyll build what the team needs and then start on individual needs like if everonye wants HA theyll make HA then JP for others just to be nice. I dont treat chicks differently on games if i beat their **** into the floor ill laugh and say GG like i would to a guy
NO i have never heard of these "paragraphs" you people speak of...
im fine with girl playing games, it doesnt bother me at all but what does bother me is the little 9 year olds with the realllllly high pitched voice that makes u want to grind your teeth screaming on thier mic there whole Game, like ok i am walking down a hall and looking around it seems clear and OMG LERK LERK LERK LERK (this lerk repeats over 40 times)

Nothing was funnier then playing on Lunixmonster with Jane and her roomie BondChick or BondGirl (Something like that). I have the highest regards for women. I live in the southeast portion of the united states, and here, chivalry is practiced. That includes everything from opening doors to holding your girlfriend by the arm to treating them like queens. In no manner would a true gentleman treat a woman anything other than like a queen here. However, not all men are gentlemen.
Just like in life, people aren't always going to treat women like they should be treated in NS. This goes to women to minorities to sexual orientation. Anyone who stands out will be outcasts, and in fact, it doesn't determine anything about the person, because everything that is assumed to that point are stereotypes.
Do what I do and ignore people like that. They exclaim their ignorance to the world, and the only thing I can do is feel sorry for them.
It doesn't really matter if you're a girl. Don't annouce it if you want to be treated normal. A lot just go on a server and are like "hi guyz I'm a gurl ^_^". No one comes on and says" Hey there, I'm a guy" or "I'm white/black/asian/indian/you get the point". It shouldn't really matter if you're a girl or not. If someone asks you, then tell them, but just announcing it right when you join...
I remember that kid, he was like 10 or something and kept asking for stuff over the voice, then he would keep asking when people told him what he wanted. Then he would start to chat over voice when a battle was going on. I think I flipped out on him.

The NS Movie project could really do with 2-3 more female voices. Sign up here if you're interested.
