Most of the time I can't tell the difference between male and female players until the female players start making a big deal about it.

It really, really annoys me when a woman who plays NS starts going on about how she's a girl for great lengths, then starts about how people give her crap about it when she's making a bigger deal about it then anyone on the server. Then when you tell her to SUYF, she freaks out about how you're treating her.

I don't think it's the girls that are anoying, i think its the moms that talk about there kids and how nice there day was over voice com. I've heard that once and boy that was anoying. MUTE MUTE..

I have some friends who are girls and game, and I hear about this all the time. A lot of men seem to treat it like a singles scene, hitting on girls (if they're over 20) or being disrespectful (if they're generally younger)

Gamers are gamers, male or female. It's best to just treat them like anyone else...no better, no worse.

Anyways one asked if she was a girl, and it turned out it was actually an 8 year old boy with a high pitched voice.

i happen to know quite a few female gamers, hell one's my best friends gf (but haven't got her to play ns yet :[ ) =, anyhoo, the worst case i've seen is "OMG OMG OMG ASL! whats your icq number"

but i usually go with the comical "heya hot stuff, what's your ip address" cracks em up everytime ;D

but in all seriousness i treat female gamers with more respect as i have yet to see one female game who acts like a idiot, or does stupid this like many males do <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'>

Yeah, not all female players are as nice/interesting/cool/whatever as most of the ones you see. Some of them are complete ditzes TBH <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>. Ran into one or two myself.
Luckilly, I think most females who thrive in a gaming environment (esp online) tend to be more mature and intelligent. All the "LIEK OMG NEEW SHUUZ!" blondes can barely figure out MSN, never mind playing an FPS <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'>. I don't have a problem with women playing, but through reading this post i've noticed everyone saying that women are great gamers. Why is everyone generalizing it? It's the same playing field, mattering not whether you are female or not, just that most guys find the lack of social skillz from being shot down at school so often that they turn to games and become eccentric about it is the reason most of the hardcore gamers you'll see out there are guys.

When it comes to the kitchen...whatever...ive heard them chide some women about it but whatever...i say just mute them and dont read the text...thats just sad.

i joke about it to my guy buddies every once in awhile, but what girl doesnt talk to their girlfriends about how they think guys autta be?

its not amazing this post has so much attention...first time a women posted i bet...lol

Thanks to everyone who got the point of my post. It wasn't to draw attention or to go "hey guys, look at me!" Just a little awareness is necessary, and I'm very pleased to see more aware than not!

Yes, I teach middle school, yes I game... I also play RPG's, fix computers, do minor hacking "parlor tricks" and am generally the "cool teacher," I'd like to think.

i didnt say all woman are great gamers but some that i meet are i knew about 2-4 and then i dont know when other woman come along cause they dont really anounce it like IM A WOMAN HERE ME ROAR! if you know how it is...... and id also like to state to many people generalize womanly or manly status on names. I use |(night , archy., pirate, carrot, shame shame kabang and so on and im seen as a guy no matter which one i use. why cant a girl use those names but then when someone joins and their name is fluffy bunny or pretty kitty or something of the sorts that is usually considered "girly" or pink ranger dont forget pink ranger.... that are automatically assumed a woman or of the female type.

And that guys rght she never said guys cant or dont enjoy to cook ..... she just said like other females but certainly not most she does NOT "belong" to the kitchen
