k, dudes, the bubble is gonna be kewl, i did a test animation, pretty scary i'm gonna add more stuff now and make a mdl that has 2 bubbles too (for variation in the map)

I had a spotlight model for my map ns_phobia, but since it never got a skin I finally didn't use it. If anyone is interested in meshing and skinning it... PM me. Is it possible to make like a big screen on the wall(Think plasma TV) that can be placed maybe in a room named Control Room or something, and have the screen show real-time footage of some area around the map? Like the cameras in cs_militia, but actually have the footage show up on the screen?
I think that's something that was coded into CS (the screen teleports you to the "viewing" place, theres no actual thing like that, or it would be exploited by cheaters, for sure)
nice but i don't like the part where it bends tho the pc is high, but I think it won't give too much extra lag in a map (since, for exemple Brigs player models are 3000 or more polies)

As I understand it, the major sticking point why they haven't made it into many maps yet is because of the low-quality skin. The models themselves are 600~ polies, and the dropship is large enough to hold 12 player spawns, a CC, and an armory.
There were a couple people willing to rework the skinmesh into something more manageable, but nothing has been forthcoming yet. hey, i want your opinion, should i make spikes around the infestation bubble? (like the OC ones) or not? i gotta know cuz else i gotta make some bones to animate those as well

Id say no spikes Dark Soul, the OC is gesteated as an offensive creation, I dont think that a random "bubble" of infestation would have grown spikes for no reason.
I was looking over this thread and I love the idea of it and the potential it has, but Id like to make a couple of suggestions:
Infestation "tubes" you see in infested walls, these ribbed tubes coming out of holes and stuff, how about making some of them actually come out of the wall, similar to say, pipes in the station but organic looking, maybe with a few spikes here and there.
Fledgeling chambers, something similar to a chamber for the aliens but not fully grown, and only a part of the scenery.
Alot of infested areas give off light from the infestation, how about making a world model of an alien light? Like a bubble full of those dancing sprites you see in one of ns_basts hives(forget which one)
Broken test tubes where they were keeping specimens?
Lots of crazy infested ideas here, sorry no marine ones.....

@ DarkSoul Ive seen plants already in some maps, i think in co_ether, and of course origin, but they seem sorta out of place to me, I dont think they would really work, unless they were totally fitting in with the Kharaa. Not some green leafy thing.
Would it be possible to make just regular blobs of infestation animated? Like slowly moving back and forth a little? That could be a really simple world entity, just to add more of a "living" hive area effect.
One last one: Make a few "mucus pools" something like a shallow crater made out of infest. with a thick yellowy geen liquid inside it to put around infested areas, or a mucus gyser..... ewwwww.
HOLY **** BALLS. Man those bubbles are awesome. And I never thought I would be sitting here commenting on pulsating alien bubbles BTW. GJ Dark Soul.

(as you can change the default model with something else while mapping)
