you dont know me.
because I am more like a "mapper" than a "modeller".
but if you want your mapping project to be something special, you have to do TONS of extra work to create a believeable world.
so take a look at this:
<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54820&st=75' target='_blank'>ns_source</a>
edit:
so I need some people that are able to create kickass-skins and maybe one person who does an animation job (but last one isnt this important). these models bellow are FINISHED but maybe I will add some good ideas from people working on each model. write an email or PM and tell me WHICH model you want to work on. then you will get either filetype of your choice or the mdl-file.

hum... I suck at skinning, so I can't help here... but this reminds me a lot of the mining vehicle from "Red Faction". So if the guy who will skin it needs some ideas for the skin, just take a look at <a href='http://redfaction.volitionwatch.com/vehicles/driller.shtml' target='_blank'>that thingy</a>. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
reminds you of red faction? this wasnt my intention but I think its a good thing.
1. because I love red faction
2. maybe the "feel" of the model will add atmosphere to the map
so custom models are worth the work. will update with more detailed model when its done. VOLUNTEERS <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
what suprised me is that your a mapper and you can model <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
its just that I am not this skilled in creating models, skinmesh and skin them but... lets say my job gives myself the opinion to work with one of the most expensive and complex 3D application on this planet. and its just a rough idea, I am only trying out some features.
but there is one big problem: this software is meant for building "real" stuff. so its very hard to work out the chamfers so they look like curves in the GAME. a curved corner created with this prog is 100% round. round in gameengine means 8-faced or 16faced. here its a curve. so its 8-16 the work <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
the programm calculates all modification as part of a "solid work model". its similar to mapping with valve hammer editor, with the slight difference that you even can manipulate the solids as the were real objects. 3dsmax is toys in my eyes ^^
so this model is crappy compared to what the programm is able to do. but the author isnt able to <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
enough of this. if you are interested which guy does this "crossover" justvisit <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54820&hl=source&st=45' target='_blank'>the ns_source thread</a> in the mapping forums. enjoy.
ROFL
omg... *tries to stop laughing*
you cant be serious. first of all autoCAD without extension is just a 2D drawing programm. second: its the cheapest CAD prog. third: most people dont even use it anymore.
and we are talking about complex 3D models here ^^

well... have you evertried autocad ? its not "just a 2D drawing program" it's used by many to draw precis drawings for buildings and machinery.... and yea, autocad can do some isometric view thingy and i must admit that this look like autocad... so yea...
next one please <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

the other version will be used for drilling, carrying the drillheads, stakes and the gear.
happy drilling ^^
does the sd-exporter for 3dsmax create hl-compatible polygons, does anybody know that?
and I would accept ANY help when the model is finished, thats for shure ^^
dont have too much time when Im working but sometimes there are some few free minutes...
I reworked the body bt it still looks terrible undetailed. added a touch of the gear of the drill at the rear part. and look: it even has got wheels yet <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
first pic looks litle hummer-like. thats funny ^^

may take more time when the map is nearly finished...
<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54820&hl=source&st=75' target='_blank'>ns_source "screenshots thread"</a>
erm, yes -_-
no, its the base for the drill. the "rocketlauncher" is the housing of the drilling-gear, the left one is the engineblock, sure, slightly rough atm. I wonder if tanktracks would be more fitting than the tires.
and I made the screenshots little bit smaller.
however, work in progress. maybe some new screens next week, maybe I will even be able to finish it then.
i would love to skinmesh it aswell just to see what it would come out like....
but if you added tracks then it would look more like the Thundercats vehicle :o
