Aww, I wish I could show you some pictures of my car.
It's a Peugeot 405GR, from 1988. It's white, and it looks spectacular. No major rust problems or paintscratches. Everything seems to be in working order, my dad checked the engine and he found nothing serious.
I've found no parts that need replacements, so hopefully I won't run into anything worth paying a lot of money for. So yeah, I got lucky with this one.
Lowered with a KW V1 Gewindefahrwerk (Hell, i cant find the damn english term for this word :S), rear windows are tindted and bumpers/doors/hatch are cleaned. The rims are 17 inch, 8,5J at the front, 9,5j in the back.

Just curious... isn't the Golf a front wheel drive vehicle? Why have the wider tires in the rear, when any traction problems are in the front? The shaved badging is well-done though.
And a quick Google imagesearch shows 'KW V1 Gewindefahrwerk' to be a set of sleeved coilovers, as far as I can see.
Normally its FWD, but it has 4motion, an AWD-System. And the rear is wider just because of the look. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Wait.. an AWD with staggered wheels? Dude, I drive a GSX, and I'll weep for your differentials. Here's hoping they're locking spider units, and not viscous couplings, otherwise you're either going to blow your tranny all over the road, or be changing carbon-fried fluid every month. Even with the proper diffs you're going to end up with screwy treadwear as the rears shove the fronts forward faster than they're meant to go, thanks to outer circumference differences.
Tires end up rated locally with a tread width/aspect height/rim diameter here... the aspect height is the 'thickness' of your sidewalls, which is a percentage of the tread width, not a set value. So a 225/45/17 would have a sidewall that was 45 percent of 225mm. So if you have 215/45/17 in the front and 225/45/17 in the rear, you have a considerable difference in outer diameter. Forcing the wheels to cover more or less ground with a single rotation. Since the tranny rotates all four at the same speed, the larger rears will move faster than the fronts, 'shoving' them forward and causing undue tire and transmission wear. If you can come up with a precise outer circumference match, then the tires can be used together. Yours do not appear to be so, and look to be on as a stylistic modification, without making sure it won't damage anything mechanically.

(PS- The eclipse blew a piston and is off at RRE, who are throwing the old engine away and building me a new one from fresh cores, forged internals, and all shiny new upgraded parts. Full list after the work's done. They're expecting a peak output of around 750hp before anything risks damage with a good tune, and a bigger turbo. Going to be sticking with my B16G for now though, as fast spool and quick throttle response is more my focus at the moment. Only expecting around 350hp on crappy 91 CA pump premium, with my setup. ^_^)

Nope. While the engine's apart, I just see it as doing all the stuff I'd kinda wanted to, while the parts need to be put on anyway. They want $3600 for a non-warrantied basic rebuild. They want $5600 for a nice setup. Tack on an extra $350 for Eagle 4340 rods, a little more for a lightened, knife-edged and balanced crank, and another $500 or so for a CFDF clutch and an 11-pound chromoly flywheel. Might as well get it all done now, and not worry about paying out the nose to have this or that part changed out.
Again, I'm only looking to make around 350hp on 91 pump. With the setup we've worked out though, they're confident that nothing would break (with a good tune, assuming no detonation) all the way up to 750hp. Which makes it reliable to run with my somewhat dinky B16G.
Only concern on my mind is drivability with the lightened crank and flywheel; I've been urged to reconsider, as it could cause somewhat rough running and stalling problems under minimal throttle situations. I'll probably listen, as I still want to be able to use it as a DD.
When I have the cash down the road, a FMIC is easy to put on, and changing out the cams can be done when my next timing belt comes up. Still would prefer to get the big brakes on as soon as possible though.

Actually, my comment was more along the lines of that the Eclipse was the development ground for the engines used in the Lancer Evolution series. And since mine is an '89, technically it *is* the daddy of all Evos. ;D

90% of the 'fixed up' Eclipses are on the 2G chassis, with a tiny throttle body, straw-sized intake runners, and crankwalk issues one out of three times. A good chunk have a FMIC but no actual tuning work done, and shoot for looks over power. In my case, it was a difficult decision to go with a bullet muffler and wider rims; I'd have much preferred to keep the car totally sleeper. May still get a replacement muffler module made up, with a dual tip Magnaflow or something that I can bolt on for daily use, that won't attract police attention as well.
A first gen isn't a common sight; if I peeled all of the badging off, I'd be willing to bet that not one in twenty could tell me what the car was, but would insist that they'd seen one somewhere before, and liked the taillights. That or they'd mistake it for a Saturn.

I remember seeing one of those trying to use its auto-park feature... it ran into two cars, then froze catty-corner across the parking spot. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
And yes, the Evo X is apparently going to be Mitsubishi USA's last-gasp.. they may be pulling out of the north american market after its release, if they're still doing poorly. It does look kinda stupid... a little like a ######-off Magnum or something. The deviation from the 4G63t plant is going to make a lot of enthusiasts very unhappy. Still to be seen if it'll be a change for the good or bad though.
