one major beef is I'll never, ever be able to aim in it, because there's no 'invert mouse' option...
what kind of slack-jawed nub gamer moves the mouse forward to look up? one moves one's head forward to look down, does one not? one pulls a flight stick back to ascend, does one not?

Revolvers are quite powerful if you can hit consistantly with them. Currently I'm A sort of melee/ranged hybrid, allthough admittedly I seem to do more damage with my kodachis then my pistols sometimes. I've become fairly good at melee, in fact. So, here's a mini-guide on how to do melee.
With a melee weapon in your hands (default controls):
double-tap wsad - dash
You dash when in melee instead of doing a jump. This is safer then jumping, but just slightly slower. Use it in areas with a lot of pits. Note that you can attack at ANY point during a dash, not just the start or the end.
mouse1 - attack
You perform a stab with the dagger, a slash with the sword, or a double slash with the kodachi. Dagger stabs can not be comboed, and are thusly easier to inturrupt with blocks. Swords and kodachi both can attack for a maximum of four combo hits before you must take a breather. Kodachi hit TWICE with every attack, greatly enhancing their damage.
mouse2 - setup
You perform an upwards slash with the katana or a lunge with the dagger or kodachi. This will knock your enemy upwards in the case of the sword, or back with the other weapons, causing your enemy to end up on his back. During this time he is resistant to melee, but can still be shot. Using a setup attack and then firing SMGs is considered a fairly lame combo, but people continue to use it. See "Recovering from setup" to see why this isn't the case, however.
HOLD mouse1 - Charge a mighty blow
You charge a mighty blow. If this attack hits, you do triple damage. You only have one chance, and it puts you into a short delay, so time your attack well! Doing this take a few seconds, and you can't move at all during this time. Anyone with a charged mighty blow will have a white halo around their sword hand(s). When a mighty blow strikes, it will create a yellow haze and a red flash on the target.
HOLD mouse2 - Wall stab
You jam your sword forwards. This can't be used on players (to my knowledge) and is instead used to scale walls. Look up and hold mouse2, then jump to move up the wall. This is generally used to stop a fall or in place of Wallrunning (which is beyond the scope of this guide).
HOLD shift - Guard
You raise your sword(s) into a defensive position. You can not guard with a dagger. Otherwise, you will, for a short period, block all bullets and melee attacks directed towards your front, with two exceptions. One is that if you block some bullets, you are vunurable for a short time right after you block the attack. The other is that you will just stop blocking after a short period, which gives your enemy an opening to attack. If you block a melee strike, the attacker is stunned for a moment and you instantly charge a mighty blow!
In theory, daggers are anti-gun (because their stunning prevents the enemy from shooting their weapons) and and kodachi are more anti-melee (due to their superior damage). However, in general, ANYONE with a kodachi is a dangerous opponent in melee, stay away unless you are good. Try to block attacks, but do not run around with your guard up. The general pattern to take is block-dash-block-dash until you can attack. Make good use of the fact that blocking an attack gives you an instant mighty blow. People who don't know how to block will often spam attacks. Simply block one, mighy blow, and repeat until they die.
Probally the most important thing to know, however, is to know how to escape from a setup. Otherwise, nubs will simply set you up and shoot you at pointblank with SMGs. If you are being knocked into the air, press JUMP just as you reach the top of the jump, but before you begin to flip onto your back. With the correct timing, you will do a flip and end up on your feet. Most people who depend on the setup to get kills will be completly suprised and will be very vulnurable. With lunge setups, press jump at any time during the time you move backwards and you will not fall on your back at the end and you will jump out of it instead.
If any of you want a chance to learn how to do this ingame (rather then in theory) we can organise a practice session for tomorrow or the day after. Let me know if you are intrested.

I sorta fail to see how unloading with smgs after a set up as opposed to with pistols is any more cheesy <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
that and if you fight a competent person, getting a set up in is actualy sorta hard.
unless you can jump them with a charged blow (charged blow also stuns the oponent).
You also left out that you can shoot out the kneecaps of any one guarding this pisses people off as most don't know about it)
Well I just found out I am good with rusty swords, got 4k experience in a 8 person room, swords only <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> . Oh yeah if they try to stun you with a sword, press space (jump) to attempt to recover, if you don't know how to.
Also damn everyone uses dual SMG <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. Also Dual swords is faster than one hand, they do less damage than one hand though.
What does everyone play as ingame? I play as Rico, I haven't run into Thansal or any NS guys since the last time we played but now I'm all the way to lvl 10.
We should all get together and play sometime, I've gotten much better!
My ingame name is Ninjafly, also I'm almost level 9. I found out a bit too late, that team deathmatch doesn't give as much experience or money as solo death match <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> . Also it seems no one (well most people) can't update today (it fails). Probably can play again tomorrow.

Talesin_Bat and DocTalesin are my current two.
Also, grenades... while weak on their own, are a good way to garner exp and bounty, if you're willing to risk ticking off everyone on the server. Tossed a pair into the middle of a melee on Mansion, and got six kills. I was summarily beaten about the head and shoulders by anyone that could catch me.
Forget grabbing dual revolvers or pistols unless you started with them. The most effective combo I've found is sword-SMGx2-rifle. But that's mostly because I don't know how to target the daggers' charging attack, and end up very dead after each attempt. Recovering from a dagger Setup is quite a bit harder than a sword Setup... you have a lot less time.
And the sword-only rooms (FFA) are a good way to rack up exp, but not so much bounty. The most fun I've had was in a sword-only TDM room, on Gladiator. Last man standing on blue, lv 6, and managed to take out a level 3, 8 and 11 (with daisho) on my own. Though I tricked the 8 into falling down one of the pits. I've gotten pretty good at wallrunning like that. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

wall run: hit the wall at a 45 angle and I find it helps to strafe the oposite direction and fowards.
once you are on the wall you stay there nomater what.
so forinstance if the wall is on your left, I end up with w and d held before I ht jump.
Also, if you try to do it over a large gap, make your angle a little bit bigger so if you DO screw up, you can still stab the wall <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Finally got a shot and the first thing I think is... is there any point in taking anything OTHER than dual SMGs? I tried dual pistol and I always seem outdamaged by those stupid smgs even when I'm being almost 100% accurate and they're just spraying everywhere :/
The health kits don't feel worthwhile either, they barely ever seem to heal a noticable amount and it's kinda annoying running off to find a quiet place to use them :p
Anything I should know before I go remake as the dual smg type char everyone else has or what?

I bought a rifle and I'm not really impressed with it; I think my nub cannons may be better...
I use the rifle for mid/long range now and uzis for short/mid range...
I still suck with the sword. whenever I run at someone with it, they gun me down. whenever someone runs at me with it, I gun them down. very rare I'm killed with it; I'm totally not seeing the advantage, the uzis still do more damage per second at close range (though they can't stun)...

The real deal is being able to play any range.
With the Rifle I can pick people off at range (the acc is realy sick, and you can still spray n pray as you charge in)
with my shotgun and my sword I can play with people up close.
Nothing better then watching some one pull the same thing every round.
Then you ambush him with charge shot, upercut, shotgun to the face <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
And the shotgun is a great way to finish people off (after a long battle you can simply dive directly at em and unload)
After finally getting a chance to play today, made it to level 4, still playing with dual SMGs, sword and grenades.
I joined a swords-only server, and it was a great opportunity to practice my sword skills. I now suck at SMG, and own at swords <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I don't have much respect for people who keyspam to avoid knockdown. Shooting people on the floor isn't the nicest but using that exploit to avoid knockdowns is much lamer. Suck it up and bite the bullet. Most of the time if you get hit with a knockdown you deserve it for not dodging. I especially hate the people who do this in sword spamfest, err gladiator mode. It's not enough that your sword does double the damage of my knife, is about as fast, has better range, can block bullets and melee attacks, and is easier to land consecutive hits with, oh no, you also need to ruin the dagger's only saving grace by cheating to avoid being knocked to the ground.
I got to play with akedath where he witnessed me laying royal smackdown to any and all on the server :p
I'm decent with the sword and uzis and people who spam melee are easy as pie to deal with. For a while the one guy on the other side with a dagger was causing us problems on the sword-only matches but once I worked out you could dodge the charge attack I sent him packing. He was a good player though inspite of that and I was glad to see him on my team in the future matches :3
Deathmatch is good money but to be honest I feel the game is really about Team Deathmatch which is a great lil giggle. I think changing to the uzi's changed the whole game for me, even though I only use them half the time; when I was level 2 I sent a level 5 and his whole team to hell almost single handedly to the point where he shouted stuff at me and left XD
It's definitely a fun lil game and reasonably well made to boot, though the ranged weapons need some severe balancing with dual uzis being hard to beat :o
