Before 240 there were obvious problems concerning Hit Reg.
In 240 and 241 they have been mostly (if not totally) fixed, and this alone affects aliens quite a bit.

After you do that, you'll be in commander view, constantly hearing the xeno "scream" and subsequent explosion looping ad infinitum.
Also, there will be a permanent green blood stream raining off of you, from your commander PoV.

Well, my GPU (6950 2gb) quite often limits my CPU (2500k 4,3ghz) when i'm doing 50-80 fps.
But when i'm getting down to 40 fps i'm CPU bound.

I guess it boils down to your playing style.
As a very aggressive Lerk you might prefer Carapace, since you're more exposed to bursty damage.
If your role is mainly harassing, thus playing somewhat defensively, yo…That's a pretty weak CPU you've got there...
