Thanks, I like the heavies to. I just test rode it (without a seat) and it rode like a caddy. Tomorrow I assemble the leather seat and hopefully fix the built in kickstand. All that's lacking is the reproduction fenders ($170.00/pr usd).

wow looks much better than what it did before. i think it looks fine without the fenders.
• DepotDepot The ModFather Join Date: 2002-11-09 Member: 7956Members
Well, perhaps, but our goal is to get it as close to original as possible. The only things we're omitting are the tank and rear carrier rack, because the repros would be factory colors and would clash with our faded red.

Did I mention $170.00 for a pair of reproduction fenders?

Actually my little brother is supplying the bucks and I am doing all the labor. I think when we get the fenders it will be close to $550.00 for the parts alone. My labor was probably worth at least that much.

Two interesting jobs stick out in this restoration. My Daddy, having run a Schwinn franchise in the late 50's through mid 60's, had modified the rear hub, by installing a Sturmey Archer 3 speed with a 3 speed derailer on the outside, for a total of 9 speeds. In returning this to stock condition we had to order a New Departure coaster brake hub from Washington state. When it arrived, I had to lace the spokes from the hub to the rim, then true the wheel. This is an art in itself, but I did it, and for the first time.

The seat is a Persons aftermarket. As all we could get was a repro Schwinn seat that's cheap as hell, Scott and I decided to re work the Persons. I completely disassembled the seat, de-rusted the 2 seat pans then painted them. Off to the upholstery shop for some saddle colored Detroit leather. Meanwhile, I straightened the bent frame and painted it, and took the spring's u-bolt to the welder to get the spring retainign caps brazed in place. I picked up the seat, went home and put it all together, and the result was a gorgeous seat for $148.00 and change.

*edit* I also got the locking fork working. That's right, by turning the front wheel all the way clockwise I can lock it and take out the key, preventing someone from riding away on it. Of course, in 1950 when this was built, you didn't HAVE to chain down bikes.

Apparently I've been chosen to act as Megan Racing's 1G DSM test car. Meaning that when they come out with new stuff for the 1G E/T/L, I'll get to go in and have it put on first... test it out, let them know what I think. And then keep the parts for free.

Going in Monday to test a new exhaust system, and short-throw shifter.

Thing is Chrono, those are not the stock body panels, nor the stock headlights/hood/fin.

Which means it could be at least three different models, depending upon the year.

since im 14 year old i don't drive anything except bicyle or stuff like that...
my father and mather have and had totally 5 cars. when i was like really young my father was owning an american car (i do not remember what brand nor model it was) when we were in Taiwan... then we moved up to Korea and we had a Hyundai Marcia
]breakhttp://www.geocities.jp/grandeurfansite/marciavls98model.jpg[/URL]
since my father liked Marcia alot he started to buy hyundais..
in 2002 our family again moved to Turkey where I live now, my father's company gave a 1998 grey Hyundai Sonata for free.
http://www.trader.pl/images/pl/big_images/...ai_sonata_1.jpg
in 2003 my father bought a black Hyundai Centennial (equus).
http://www.geocities.co.jp/MotorCity-Pit/8...entennial06.jpg

when he told me he was going to get one of this, i disagreed with him and was telling him to buy a benz or bmw but when i first rode on this i felt my father's decision was the best. i liked this car alot, according to the result there are only 4 of this car in Turkey. actually my father's company bought this for my father for special guest treatment, he doesn't use this alot.

the lastest car we bought was 2005 black Hyundai Sonata.
http://autospy.intizen.com/autospy/bbs/tab...d/NF-sonata.jpg

probably this is the first new Sonata imported to Turkey cuz my father ordered this when it just came out.

lately my father is planning to buy a Hyudai Azera which is new too.

its been only 5 months since my father got the lastest car so maybe one year later.

Sounds like your dad favors Hyundais. Originally a piece of rolling crap when they were first exported to the U.S., the Hyundai now ranks at or near the top of Consumer Report's reliability rating.

Looks quite a bit like an MR2.

And no, I don't do it professionally, yet.
The bad news... I got to Megan, and met up with the guy.. and apparently the exhaust they were testing was for the GS-T. Called up the buddy I sold my old one to, and got him over. They're going to look into making a GSX exhaust sometime soon, but who knows how long that's gonna take. :b

On the up side, the car should be done by now, so I'm going to rollerblade over and pick it up. ^_^

My exact thoughts, but it looks diffrent somehow. Maybe cause its modded.

*edit* Yea if it is, its really modded. MR2's have fold down headlights, and a diffrent hood. Perhaps its built for racing (looking at racing seats)
