The thing that's impressed me most about CS:Sauce is the subtlety of it all. It runs smooth and silky like a baby's arse, lots of little details and suff, like the spec maps on the tiled floors, the light rays through the windows, the glare from the sun, the reflection in the rifle scope. This isn't doom 3, they don't throw every single effect on every surface and shout "JESUS CHRIST CAN YOU SEE OUR EFFECTS!!!" No, they use them responsibly and, personally, i think they really add to it looking sexy.
The new skybox thing is extremely cool too. In dust, those domes ontop of the central building, are part of the skybox, they're not actually built into the main level. If you go to audio options theres an option for testing your speaker setup. It then loads that map (which is just that exact image, with the camera locked from above) and it cycles through each of your speakers (left speaker, centre, right speaker etc etc) and a little light flashes up for each speaker as it does (you can see the speakers in the corner of the room).

Well, I've now tested it both on DX9 and DX8 conditions, and I've gotta say, VALVe needs to get their crap together. By no means is the engine optimized for GeForce users at all, and if it is, we could easily power DX9(though not as good as the ATi cards). When running not on DX9, I experienced about 30-60 fps average(low end proc), with it, 15-30 average, but I've got a gut feeling it can do quite a lot better(at least 30-40 average).
Quaunaut, VALVe alledges to have spent about 6 times more time optimizing for the FX series than the radeon series. Either they are lying or the geforce FX series really hurts when you use 32-bit precision(per colour component) like many other benchmarks and games have indicated or VALVe really did a bad job of optimizing it even if they spent the time they alledges to have.
